Fashion - All laced up

Asos boyfriend jeans in a lace up look

Hey lovelies,
It was finally sunny enough to take some outfit photo's, woohoo..... I got new jeans and they needed photographing haha (the blogger life). I have been after some boyfriend type jeans that weren't to baggy for a while, being a short arse baggy jeans do me no favours so when I came across these shrunken fit beauties they had to be mine.
I am a bit late to the lace up top trend as I just hadn't found one with the right fit, I wanted something loose not fitted this one I found in Tesco of all places, for a tenner !!

Jeans - Asos, Lace up top - tesco, leather Jacket - Topshop (old), handbag - Asos, lace up shoes - Ebay (old)

To go with the lace up top I popped on my lace up shoes, and to finish the look off I threw on my leather jacket.

Let me know your thought on this lace up look?

Lifestyle - Baking Vanilla cupcakes with Pink icing

Hey lovelies,
Firstly I wanna apologise for my Piss poor excuse for icing it really is not my forte, but hey ho the cupcakes tasted lush even if they weren't quite as pretty as they where in my head, beauty comes from within and all that jazz!!

Anyway these cupcakes are super easy to make you will need;

Ingredients cakes
  • 175g butter at room temp
  • 175g self raising flour
  • 175g caster sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 eggs

icing
  • 175g butter at room temp
  • 350g icing sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • milk for loosening
  • edible food colouring
Method
Cream butter and sugar until smooth add in the rest of the cake ingredients until combined, spoon into cake cases and put in a 180C oven for about 20 mins or until cooked.
Once baked remove and allow to cool completely, in the mean time make the icing by combining the butter and half the icing sugar then gradually add in the rest of the sugar, vanilla and colouring adding milk to loosen if needed (this is where I went wrong I think adding to much) pipe onto cakes in a decorative fashion, adding sprinkles to make it look pretty.

You will undoubtedly make a better job of icing them the me, but gives me a reason to practice haha.

Happy baking.....

Lifestyle - Yankee Candle Summer peach review

Yankee candles summer peach review

Hey lovelies,
You may know by now that I love a good candle and regularly have one or two burning when I'm at home, today I have a review of Yankee candles Summer peach fragrance, which I believe is one of their new seasonal scents.

Even when this was still wrapped I could really smell its sweet fruity scent and upon lighting the scent soon wafted through my whole downstairs smelling of Summer time and ripe juicy peaches, the smell took me to a Summers day picnicking outside enjoying the sunshine ( oh the power on the imagination ) but you get my drift, if you like fruity scents like me you will love this little beauty as much as I do, I know I will be repurchasing for sure.

As you would expect from Yankee the scent lasts ages and it burns happily for up to 15 hours which is good for a votive costing only £1.80.

Have you tried Summer peach? what do you think of it?

Lifestyle - A Pinterst worthy photo display

Pinterest worthy photo display using Instagram photos

Hey lovelies,
Just lately I have developed a bit of a thing for Pinterest, and I am pinning away constantly whether its Fashion, beauty, food or home decor I have plenty of boards that I just can't stop pinning on you could have a sneaky look here if you fancy.

So anyway I am always looking for new home decor ideas and when I saw a cute way of displaying photo's it inspired me to give something a go and make my own display using some of my Instagram photo's.

First off I needed some photo's to display so I choose 12 of my fav Instagram pic's then visited Polargram's website and went ahead and had them printed and I am so happy with them as they look great. The website is super easy to use and your photo's are delivered in a couple of days.

To make this display its so easy, you just need a large frame of your choice, mines from Asda but you can use what one you like, some twine and some mini pegs I picked mine up from Amazon but I imagine any shops selling craft equipment will sell them.

To assemble is so easy and quick, first remove the back, any inserts and the glass from your frame, so your just left with the frame itself then lay out your twine and photo's in the pattern you want to display them in, cut the twine to size, staple to the frame and peg your photo's to to the twine, it's as easy as that. Hang in your chosen room and you have a cute display of your favourite pictures.

Let me know what you think of this idea? I would love to know

Beauty - Superdrug coconut oil review

Superdrug coconut oil review

Hey lovelies,
If you read my March beauty Favourites you may remember me saying how the Superdrug Coconut oil  did wonders for my hair. So today I thought I would give you a full review of this little miracle worker.
Way back In February I was in bed ill for the whole month to unwell to look after my hair and this really took its toll on it's condition , even after I was well enough to get up, it just looked dreadful dull & notty I tried various deep conditioning treatments that I had laying around my bathroom but nothing helped my hair just constantly looked and felt horrible. Then I tried this little pot I had heard coconut oil was good for your hair but didn't expect something so cheap to make such a difference.

When you open the pot and look at the solid coconut oil you do wonder quite how its gonna work, this is how I used it not sure if this is right but it worked for me I wet my hair in the shower, then scooped out some of the hard oil from the tub, this isn't particularly easy so you may need to just keep getting a little bit at a time, then warm the oil in your hands until it softens then distribute through the lengths of your hair. now I must admit at this point I thought it wasn't gonna do anything but I left it on for 4 or 5 mins, rinsed then shampooed and conditioned my hair as normal. This is when I noticed just how much softer my hair was how it was no longer notty and hard to comb. Once I had dried my hair it had more shine then it had, had for ages.
I use it once a week and my hair condition has improved, but I guess you can use it more frequently or leave it on for longer, say while in the tub, but defo give it a go if your hair needs a little pepping up.

Have you tried coconut oil?

Beauty - Review Arbonne anti aging skincare and Lipstick

Arbonne skincare and makeup review

Hey lovelies,
Today I have for you a beauty review from skincare and makeup brand Arbonne , just a little background on the brand their products are totally Vegan, cruelty free and made with premium botanical ingredients. so if that's something that interests you defo check them out.
I was lucky enough to try a sample range of the anti aging RE9 advanced set skincare set* and smoothed over Lipstick in the shade Willow*.

I'll start of by telling you about the R9 advanced skincare set. the set contains 7 skincare steps which can be purchased separately or as a set containing all the steps, depending on your needs. personally my favourite item in the set is the cleanser, hands down this is the best cleanser I have tried, my skin just feels amazing after using it, clean but not dry or tight and really smooth. I also loved the eye cream it defo made a difference to my under eye area really helping to plump up the skin and improved the appearance of the dreaded eye bags. The range also contains a toner, serum, day cream, extra moister cream and night repair cream. All of which feel like premium quality products and are a joy to use.

Now on to this gorgeous lipstick
the smoothed over lipstick in the shade willow, firstly the formula is lovely, moisterising infused with fruit extracts for max hydration and volumising effects, its a satin finish that feels creamy on the lips, with a lovely glossy look that I found to be long lasting, it just needs topping up after eating but apart from that lasts well on the lips.

Now the shade is a really pretty mauve/nude that is super wearable on the daily basis, I have worn it almost every day since getting it, it goes with pretty much any makeup look and is just an easy lippie to throw in your handbag.
I love it and am really happy to add it to my makeup collection.

I totally recommend Arbonne as a brand and I would defo be interested in trying other items from the range. I hope you found this review helpful, let me know if would try out this brand?

Fashion - C'est moi

Outfit featuring Asos and newlook

Hey lovelies,
Check me out in the above pic trying to look sophisticated.... haha
anyway I have had this C'est moi slogan top in my saved items on Asos  for a while, then Asos launched a sale and hey presto said top was reduced to a measly £9.50 and became mine!

I of course wore it with jeans, this time my blue Joni's, these cute pumps I picked up in the Topshop sale for a tenner and my Topshop leather jacket I picked up in the Christmas sales, I just removed the faux fur collar to make it more season appropriate.

Top - Asos , Jeans - Topshop, shoes - Topshop - (sold out), Jacket - topshop (last year) sunglasses - Newlook

I am a massive fan of the slogan trend, this top I know I will wear loads, it would also look nice under a blazer, with black jeans and white trainers.

What do you think of this outfit? do you like the slogan trend?

Recipe for carrot & apple loaf

Hey lovelies,
I'm back with another little baking post for you, I'm really getting back into my baking recently and find it relaxing on my day off to spend time in the kitchen and my family are certainly not complaining. So anyway Carrot & Apple loaf is super easy and makes a really moist tasty loaf.....

Ingredients

  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup melted butter
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup yogurt
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 cup plain flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon bicarb of soda
  • 1 large grated carrot
  • 1 grated apple
Directions

  • Preheat oven to 350f and grease a 9x5 loaf tin,
  • In a large bowl or food mixer combine the first 8 ingredients up to the nutmeg.
  • Add the flour, baking powder & bicarb and stir gently with a spatula.
  • Add the grated carrot and apple and fold in.
  • Pour the mixture into the loaf tin, don't panic the batter is ment to be thick.
  • Bake for approx 40 mins this will depend on your oven and the moisture content of the carrot and apple. keep an eye on it and when a skewer comes out clean its cooked. You may need to cover it with foil for the last 10 mins or so to stop it catching on the top.
  • Allow the loaf to cool in the tin for 15 mins then turn out to a rack to cool completely.
  • Enjoy a slice with a cuppa.

Fashion - 6 things we all need in our wardrobe

6 things we all need in our wardrobe, black jeans , black blazer, white trainers, handbag, sunglasses

Hey lovelies,
I have recently been thinking about items that I think we all need in our wardrobes. key pieces that can be mixed and matched with new items that we pick up through out the seasons.

  1. A great pair of black jeans, my choice is of course Topshop Joni jeans, but choose any pair that you feel great in.
  2. A black blazer, for me is another must it will go with just about anything in your wardrobe, instantly making any outfit look put together this one is a Newlook one I picked up from Asos.
  3. A white Tee is a just a classic it looks good with anything but especially with black as I have done here. Mines a hollister one again picked up from Asos.
  4. A decent size black or navy handbag that is the perfect size for chucking all your everyday essentials in, this one is an Oasis one from Asos.
  5. A pair of white trainers, white trainers are everywhere this season and for good reason they look good are practical and comfy and ideal for a busy woman about town, mine are Adidas that I picked up from JD Sports.
  6. Sunglasses just finish an outfit I have several pairs as I have a sunglasses problem, I have bought 3 pairs so far this year, whoops, personally I never buy expensive ones as I like to have plenty to choose from these ones I picked up the very morning of these photo's in Newlook.

What are your key pieces? have I missed anything?

Hey lovelies,

I just love to freshen everything up makeup wise, with pretty pastel nails and pinky/mauve toned lips and eyes, I am desperate for Mac's faux lippie and how cool does the mauve chrome nail polish sound??

I also like to add a little colour to my wardrobe, and how effortless would this white and blue body look with my faithful black Joni jeans, white Vans a blazer thrown over the top and that cute white and pink handbag. Very Springlike I think without being to colourful as you know I tend to stick to a fairly "safe" colour palette.
