Beauty - My 2016 beauty favourites

Beauty favourites 2016

Hey lovelies,
Welcome to this my last post of 2016, today instead of doing my normal monthly favourites, I thought I would write a post about those beauty discoveries of 2016 that will be coming with me into 2017, these are all products that I use all the time and couldn't imagine not having in collection.

This was the year I really go into skincare and decided to get a good routine in place that really works for my skin, and this includes Liz Earle's cleanse & polish, this is an iconic product everyone has heard of and for good reason in my opinion, it really works at dissolving making and cleansing skin and my skin has never looked and felt so good. Sticking with skincare earlier this year I was suffering from really dry skin in the eye area and thought it was about time I invested in some decent eye cream, and that's when my infatuation with kiehls creamy eye cream was born, its just so good no more dry eyes and its made my delicate eye area a lot happier.

Revlon color stay foundation for oily/combination skin is my go to base and I can't see that changing, I love its coverage and finish and it doesn't melt of my face which is a massive bonus. Urban Decay has got to be one of my stand out brands of 2016, I have amassed a collection of there products and love all of them the eye shadow palette's for me are just the best quality and the original naked palette is one I reach for day after day, the pigmentation and quality are second to none and well worth the £38 price tag in my opinion. I also love there lipsticks I have 3 of the Vice lippies, the packaging is stunning very instagramable and the lipsticks themselves are great quality and the selection of colours is insane they have a colour and finish I think anyone would love. Now eyeliner is something I have always been pretty rubbish at, that is until I tried Soap & Glory's supercat liner, its an easy to use felt tip style liner that even I can use, so defo worth a try. Lastly to set all this makeup on my face the BarryM mist and fix dewy finish setting spray is the one, I have tried several setting sprays including expensive ones but I can honestly say I prefer the mist and fix and its £5.99 price tag is a bonus.

So there you have my top products of 2016, what are your favourites? what do I need to try in 2017?

Thank you for all your support through 2016, I would love you to hang about through 2017, I hope you all have a great New Year whatever you are doing, I will be on the couch watching Harry Potter, my party days are behind me (haha).

Happy New Year

December's box is aptly named the winter box, and here's what I got.....

I'll start off with my favourite treats from this months box, you may know I love all things gingerbread, and these offerings from Bahlsen are no exception, the Lebkuchen Mischung are an assortment of colourful gingerbread decorated with chocolate and glazing, and the Akora, mmmm are filled with spiced jam and covered in chocolate, both are delicious and long gone in my house.

Another sweet treat in the Winter box, is Oh fudge in apple and Cinnamon flavour, I've not tried these yet but I love fudge so I'm sure they will be yummy, also perfect for a gift.

Now on to more savoury snacks Hoots snacks are multigrain and baked not fried so a healthier alternative to crisps, as are Bite+ multigrain flakes that look almost like cereal but are savoury like crisps, genius and yummy.

The next items are all great for a quick no fuss meal or great for work lunches, First up Maggi 3 minute noodles, these sound perfect to take to work as an alternative to a sarnie. Then from Gallo The Cheese and Veg Risotto box Just pop in the microwave for a quick on the go lunch, and Gallo four cheese creamy risotto a perfect meal in minutes.

These two items go well together a2 easier to digest long life milk, an alternative to regular cows milk for people with some intolerances, and Nutri- Brex Gluten free crispy rice biscuits with coconut and cinnamon look a bit like weetabix and are delicious.

Last up is the drinks selection in this month's box, What a melon, watermelon water apparently hydrates like coconut water so maybe will be the next big thing, Newton's Appl Fizzics A low sugar apple and sparkling water drink, very refreshing I enjoyed this, and lastly Eisberg the UK's top non alcoholic wine producer, perfect for those that prefer not to drink or are driving.

I thought this month's box was great and loved everything, I highly recommend giving Degustabox a whirl.

Blogmas day 21 what's in my December makeup bag

Hey lovelies,
When it comes to December I tend to swap things up a bit in my makeup, out comes the glitter liner and I add in a red lip for evenings out, the rest is what I would typically wear throughout the rest of the season to be honest as I love a gold eye look all winter long. My fav palettes for December are naked by UD and my Mac quad, with the shades woodwinked, coppering, all that glitters and naked lunch.

As I said before I love Gold eye makeup in December, so out comes my maybelline color tattoo and a new addition Tanya Burr gold glitter eyeliner, great for popping on with S&G supercat liner for a dramatic eye look. Pretty much all year round I wear Revlon colourstay foundation as I love it, it has a great level of coverage, stays put and I love the finish, I also always use The balm's Mary lou manizer as its just my fav highlighter. Lipstick wise I of course have popped in a red in the form Rimmel Kate 107, and my standard daily nude lip from UD Liar.

What's in your December makeup bag?

Hey lovelies,
I have a cheeky little outfit post for you featuring this totally dreamy Asos jumper that I'm totally in love with, I had to wait patiently for it to come back into stock in my size constantly checking my saved items, but I got it and it's now my new favourite thing.

       Asos chevron jumper

The jumper is a very oversized fit so I downsized getting a 6 instead of an 8 but of course that is up to you if you wanna do that, here I put with Asos mom jeans and converse, but it goes with anything, and oh my it is so soft and so thick and cosy I never wanna take it off.

Blogmas day 19 2 Christmas cocktails

Snowball cocktail & Nutella martini

Hey lovelies,
Its blogmas day 19 can you believe it? today I have for you a couple of recipes for my favourite Christmas cocktails, perfect for a night with friends along side some nibbles or for Christmas day after dinner drinks.

First up, is an oldy but a goody;

The Snowball

You will need Advocaat, lemonade and a lime, this one is super easy just fill your glass half way with Advocot and top up with lemonade and a squeeze of lime, give it a little stir and enjoy.

Next a new discovery;

Nutella Martini

You will need milk of choice, you can use normal milk or to add to the nuttyness a nut milk, cocoa, Nutella and vodka. In a cocktail shaker or blender add 400 ml milk. 2 heaped spoons of nutella, spoonful of cocoa powder and a couple shots of vodka, you can play with the measurements depending on how chocolaty or alcoholic you want it to be, mix and pour over ice.....

Both these cocktails are super yummy and easy to make, what are your favourite Christmas drinks?

Blogmas day 18 last minute stocking fillers under £10

stocking fillers

Hey lovelies,
For me stocking fillers can be the hardest gifts to choose at Christmas, you want something the person will like but that's not pricey and not a load of tat, and now the big day getting close, it can be a panicky time, so I'm here to help these stocking fillers are all under £10 and are all in high street stores, so hopefully they are things you can maybe pick up on your lunch break or you still have time to order into store for collection. I've chosen a selection to cover both men and women so hopefully if you are still on the hunt for a last minute stocking filler this post has helped.

Blogmas day 17 Salted caramel hot chocolate

Hey lovelies,
In Winter and especially Christmas time I like nothing more then to indulge in the occasional hot chocolate, on one of those times when the hot chocolate cravings where high I looked through my cupboard for inspiration for ways to pimp up my hot chocolate when I came across my jar of tesco salted caramel sauce, and the idea was born for salted caramel hot chocolate.

To make it you will need milk of your choice, chocolate a teaspoon of caramel sauce and whatever toppings you like such as whipped cream and marshmallows. To make salted caramel hot chocolate gently warm your milk in a saucepan when its warm break in the chocolate and stir in the caramel sauce until all combined, then pour into a mug and top with whipped cream and marshmallows.

....... and enjoy

Blogmas day 16 My Top 3 Winter perfumes

Hey lovelies,
When it comes to fragrances in Winter I like to change things up a bit, away go the light fresh fragrances of Summer and out come darker deeper scents.
Here I'm sharing my top 3 Winter fragrances the first up being Mugler Alien, not only is the packaging stunning in its jewel like bottle this fragrance is woody and musky and very long lasting you only need a squirt of this perfume and you can smell it all day it also makes a striking evening scent. Next up is an iconic YSL fragrance Black Opium this is another super long lasting fragrance but with slightly sweeter notes of black coffee and vanilla, I adore this scent and wear it loads its got such a distinctive scent, instantly recognizable.
Lastly a more affordable fragrance from the stunning Katy Perry in the form of Killer Queen, Killer Queen is a much more day appropriate scent then maybe the other 2 heavier fragrances, with top notes wild berry and Bergamot its a scent that lingers for hours and just smells wintery to me and that unusual bottle looks stunning on your dresser.

What are your favourite Winter fragrances ?

Blogmas day 15 A festive nail of the day

nail of the day Barry M

Hey lovelies,
Today I have nail look I love in Winter, but its especially appropriate at Christmas. I have always been a fan of dark glossy nails I just think they look so classy and this Barry M Gelly shine in Black grape is no exception, its a gorgeous navy blue, so dark almost black in some lights, and you know what makes this polish even better and that's a bit of glitter, cause you gotta have a bit of glitter at Christmas. So on my thumb and ring finger I've added a coat of this Tanya Burr cosmetics silver glitter polish, and it looks so pretty. The only thing I would say about the Tanya Burr glitter is the smell is really strong so you may want to open a window while your using it, the smell doesn't last while on the nails though which is a result.

What are your go to nail colours at Christmas?
