Beauty - May Favourites

Urban Decay Backtalk, Tartlette in bloom

Tarte Tartlette 2 in bloom

Hey lovelies,

Another month is drawing to a close, we've had a glimpse of Summer, before the sun has disappeared again, and it's got me in the mood for Summer makeup.

First on my Fav list is gonna be no surprise I'm sure and that's Charlotte Tilbury light wonder foundation, I have banged on about this loads so will keep it brief, this foundation is a medium coverage and gives my complexion a natural healthy glow, love love love it. My eyeshadow palette of choice recently has been been my Tarte, Tartlette 2 in bloom, I got this a while back and loved it but somehow it had found itself at the back of the que in the mornings, but that has all changed the last few weeks I dug this beauty out and fell in love all over again, the shades are super pretty and wearable plus they are buttery and blend beautifully defo a palette worth investing in, in my opinion.

Now onto lips, I vary between wanting a matte lip, or a softer glossier finish depending on my mood, my matte lip of choice recently has been UD Backtalk, a gorgeous mauve/pink shade great for everyday, and the comfort matte finishes are just that comfortable and not at all drying, I really love the Urban Decay lipsticks. When I won't something a little glossier and hydrating I have been opting for Revlon Ultra HD Gel lipcolour, in the shade sand, this product is super hydrating and feels really lovely and moisterising, and the perfect shade for a bronzed glowy look.

Lastly to keep everything in place in the warmer weather I have been using Urban Decay's All nighter* setting spray, this stuff really works and keeps my makeup on my face , which is a bonus!

Beauty - Joan Collins Compact duo review

Joan Collins compact duo review

Hey lovelies,

I have tried a few things now from Joan Collins beauty, from bath salts to the Divine lipsticks which I love might I add, so when I got the opportunity to try the Compact Duo*, I had high hopes.

So what is the Compact duo*, firstly it's a stunning gold compact, with a good sized mirror inside, great for touch ups on the go, inside the compact, is a gorgeous silky soft powder, a powder applicator and your choice of lipstick. I love that you get to choose which lip colour, and you can also switch this up anytime as any of the divine lipsticks fit in the compact. So whether you're on a girls night out or you're at a Summer wedding, this compact has got your makeup needs covered, and it looks pretty stylish in your clutch bag to boot.

The lipstick I have is Suzy Starr, which might I add is a pretty cool name, the formula of these lipsticks like I mentioned in my last review is lush, super moisterising and hydrating and still managing to be really pigmented, they really are great lipsticks.

I am so glad I have this stunning compact to pop in my handbag, I would 100% recommend, as the quality of the Joan Collins products I have tried have been second to none.

You can check out my divine lipsticks review here and the bath salts here, if you missed them.

Beauty - Nail of the day

BarryM Molten metal

Hey lovelies,

I'm sure you all know by now, but I'm gonna say it again I LOVE BarryM nail polishes, I love the colours, formulas and the price.

Recently while mooching round my local Superdrug, I saw that BarryM have added to their Molten metal range, I already have Copper mine which I bought late last year I think, and loved so I thought it only right and proper to add Pink Ice Rose Gold to my ever growing collection as the name would suggest this is a pretty rose gold shade that for me goes perfectly with a pastel pink shade like,Dragon Fruit. What I love about the Molten metal polishes is the staying power these can be worn for several days without chipping, they go on smoothly, take just 2 thin coats and dry super quick ( I hate waiting for my nails to dry).

I would 100% recommend giving the Molten Metal range a whirl there are several colours to choose from and I know I will inevitably buy more.

Lifestyle - Is getting outside good for your mental health?

Hey lovelies,

I have recently been going through a rough patch, feelings of anxiety getting the better of me, until last week when I had a melt down, and decided I couldn't go on like this, that it was ok to admit things were not working out for me, and it was the right thing to do to take myself away from a place, situation and people that made me feel this way, I wasn't a failure it just wasn't for me.

I am very lucky to have a supportive husband, who encourages me to look forward not back to move onwards and upwards not sink into self pity, and a way he has helped is by advising me to get outside, go for a walk, and you not what he is right. I have now being going out for regular walks, and it helps, it helps to clear my head, helps me to put things in perspective and it's now helping me to think about my future think about what I wanna do.

This weekend we seized the day and got outside and enjoyed the sun, we visited a local national trust property, we wondered in the grounds and I started to relax, the scenery was stunning, the company was good and the sun was shining.

I have never been what you call outdoorsy, and I nearly always choose to drive rather than walk, but recently I've come to appreciate, getting outside, getting some fresh air and clearing my head and if I get a little bit fitter in the process that's another positive.
So in short, is getting outside good for your health? yeah I think it is.

Beauty - It's all about the base, my current routine

Charlotte Tilbury, Mac , Barry M, Collection

Hey lovelies,

Recently I have added some new base products into my makeup collection and they have quickly become go to items, for an everyday makeup look, so I thought I would share with you my current fav base.

First things first after moiserising my skin I go straight in with my Mac Prep & Prime, this has been my first choice primer for a while and I am on my second bottle, it smooths my skin, blurs my pores and definitely helps my makeup stay put. Love it.

As for concealers, I have my old faithful Collection lasting perfection, this is always in my makeup bag, it has a cult status for a reason, it has a high coverage concealer that is amazing at covering imperfections and costs a fraction of the price of some of those high end concealers. For those dark under eye circles I have recently bought into the colour corrector fad, and purchased Barry M's correcting wand in yellow, and you know what I think it really helps to lighten and brighten my under eye area, and I love the formula really creamy and blends like a dream.

Now onto the newest edition to my makeup collection Charlotte Tilbury's Light Wonder foundation, now this is pricey and I did have reservations about buying it, but I went for it and I love it so all good, the coverage is medium I would say, and leaves your skin looking so natural and radiant. Perfect especially for warmer days as feels so light on the skin like your wearing nothing at all.

Last up an old faithful of mine, a product I use everyday without fail, Mac's mineralize skin finish powder, is my perfect powder it sets my makeup beautifully, never goes cakey, and can be used to give your skin an extra bit of coverage on those days when your skin is not looking it's best. It's not to matte and my glowy foundation still glows through, which I love, as I'm not a fan of a totally matte face.

So there you have it my current base makeup routine.

Beauty - Urban Decay's All nighter setting Spray

Urban Decay All nighter long lasting setting spray

Hey lovelies,

We have reached that time of year, that I affectionately call trying not to let my makeup run off my face time of year, you know how it is you get ready in the morning, your makeup looks pretty banging if you say so yourself, and by lunchtime you look like you haven't bothered putting any on at all. Which for me is not a good look.

That is where a good setting spray is required and they are hard to find, Urban Decay is one of my favourite brands I have quite a few of their products in my collection, some of which I pretty much use on the daily, so when I got the chance to try out the all NEW All nighter* long lasting setting spray, I was all over that pronto.

First up the new slick packaging is pretty damn sexy, I love the purple and black colourway, it looks pretty good on my dresser, but most importantly I love the performance of this spray, I have been using it every morning for nearly a week now and I love it, the spray comes out as a gentle mist on the skin that feels cool and fresh, and this bad boy has staying power my makeup looks fresher for longer than with any other setting spray I have tried. I can not comment on the All nighter claim, cause if I go out I'm back home in my pj's by 9 ( I am not a party animal) but it does make my makeup last from the morning well into the evening and that for someone with oily skin is a fantastic achievement.

The All nighter* long lasting setting spray is suitable for all skin types, and has clever temperature control technology that lowers the temperature of your makeup, keeping in place for longer. Those clever people at Urban Decay have thought of everything.

I would 100% recommend trying this offering from UD I am a convert.

Beauty - May new beauty purchases

charlotte tilbury light wonder, barrym revlon

Hey lovelies,

I'm back with another new beauty purchases post, I wrote one last month about the little beauty bits I treated myself to, and it seemed to go down well, so here's what I have bought this month.

First up and the most exciting and expensive (whoops) of my new beauty purchases and that's Charlotte Tilbury Light Wonder foundation, I first tried this in sample form, as Charlotte Tilbury kindly let you choose samples when making an order on the website, and I really liked it, so come pay day the inevitable happened and I made an order. The thing I really love about the light wonder foundation, is the light part, it feels really lightweight on the skin, which I love, especially in the warmer months, but don't let that fool you, this foundation still provides decent medium coverage. I love the healthy glow it gives to my skin, all in all despite being expensive I am glad I bought it.

The rest of the beauty buys were picked up on a whim in Superdrug, like you do, You guys know I love Barry M, especially the nail polish, so I had to pick up one of the new molten metal shades, I have one bought when they first came out and I love it so decided to pick up the new Pink Ice rose gold, because it looks so pretty, and it's rose gold sooooo...... Anyway it's lush as expected.

Also from Barry M I got the colour corrector wand for dark circles, because they are defo an issue I have as I guess many of you do to, those pesky eye bags can be a nightmare, and this little wand is wonder at lightening up that area and the formula is really creamy, so there is not dragging on that delicate area.

Last up a new offering from Revlon, a drugstore brand I have always loved, Revlon Ultra HD gel lipcolour, these come in a huge range of shades some of them a bit to daring for my taste, but also some more wearable shades, I chose sand a gorgeous shimmery nude shade, perfect for a bronzed summery makeup look, what I love about these is the formula it is so hydrating it literally feels more like a lip treatment then a lipstick. The colour pay off is good, the formula is lovely the only downside with these is as you normally get with a more creamy hydrating product is it doesn't last ages, but to be fair it feels so nice to put on it's not really a hardship to reapply.

If you fancy checking out what I bought last month if you missed in just click  here, and have a look.

Hey lovelies,

I'm sure you know by now I am a massive skincare fan, and I am always on the lookout for new treatments and products, I am not getting any younger and wanna keep my skin looking as youthful as possible for as long as possible.

That's where this Cocoa Noir time reverse serum* comes in, I have tried a few things now from Dr Botanicals and I have been impressed with everything I have tried and this serum is no exception.

What I love about the brand is they use 100% natural ingredients, and are vegan and cruelty free. The packaging is simple and stylish and the products are just so enjoyable to use and feel like you're really doing your skin some good.

The key ingredients, Geranium flower oil helps to even skin tone and firm and plump the skin, Seabuckthorn fruit oil promotes hydration, Neroli oil, improves skin health, reduces uneven skin tone and visible blemishes. Since using the cocoa noir serum I have noticed how much smoother my skin looks and feels and my complexion definitely just looks brighter.

" Who should use Coco Noir Time Reverse Facial Serum? Use this product if you are concerned about fine lines and wrinkles Use this product for skin tightening Use this product for firmer skin You can use all Doctor Botanicals products with your existing skincare regime "
