Beauty - October Favourites

Hey lovelies,

October has whizzed by, and that makes me a little sad, October is the last month of semi decent daylight hours, soon we will be in the depths of dark mornings and even darker evenings, plus it starts getting less acceptable to have pumpkins as decoration in your house.

Anyway onto this months favourite makeup bits, those products I have found myself repeatedly reaching for in the mornings.

Urban Decay, Mac. Revlon. Joan Collins. Autograph, Sleek

First up I'm gonna talk eyes, and this month I have been using some eyeshadows that have been buried in the depths of my makeup collection for quite a while, until recently when I rediscovered them, I was as excited as when you move round a kids toy box and they find something "new" and play with it for hours!!
Now my Mac quad is perfect for this time of the year as I have filled it with warm tones with a little bit of sparkle, I have Woodwinked, All that glitters, Coppering and Naked lunch, and by no coincidence they work pretty well with my Rosie for autograph eyeshadow stick a creamy eyeshadow that looks stunning on its own or as a base to build on. Sticking with the eyes I couldn't not add in Urban Decays trouble maker* mascara as I have been using it loads this month, I love how full my lashes look when I use it.

When it comes to brows, if you are a regular reader this will come as no surprise, if it does come as a surprise I suggest you follow me at once, so you don't miss out on other interesting details about my eyebrows!! Revlon colorstay brow pencil in soft black is my go to, my number one, my numero uno, you get the picture.
I have been using a few different lippies this month due to the change in seasons but I think my most worn is Joan Collins Marilyn* a gorgeous Autumnal shade that's not to in your face and comfortable on the lips. Lastly, I know, there have been a few things this month, well done for sticking around till the end my highlighter of choice this month has been my Cleopatra's kiss palette from Sleek, I am really into goldy highlighters at the mo.

Fashion - Dressing like a 70's Throwback

Hey lovelies,

In this week's outfit I am looking a bit like a throwback from a 70's sitcom,  and I do not care a jot, the 70's trend has been around a while now and I can't see it going anywhere soon. If you read my post a couple of weeks ago Why its ok not to have loads of money to spend on clothes even as a fashion blogger you will know I am currently making my wardrobe work extra hard, by challenging myself to wear the clothes I already own, in new and different ways, instead of sticking to wearing the same outfits or buying new stuff.

I decided to build this outfit around my leopard print dress, I know leopard print is a bit of a marmite print you either love it or you hate it, personally I love it, as long as you don't go OTT I think leopard print can take a bog standard outfit up a notch, making it a hell of a lot more fun.

I have always worn the dress In summer, but I decided to make it appropriate for this chilly autumn weather, so out came the tights, my burgundy heeled boots, the shearling aviator jacket, that I wore to death last winter, accessories wise I kept things plain with a black handbag and belt my new obsession the Baker boy hat, and a simple gold choker.

Lifestyle - Naipo shiatsu Back, Neck and shoulder massager

Naipo shiatsu Back, Neck and shoulder massager

Hey lovelies,

You know when you have a niggling back ache, a stiff neck or tightness through the shoulders and you think to yourself, I could do with a massage? well I may have just the thing for you the Naipo Shiatsu back neck and shoulder massager* is an electric deep kneading massager with the added benefit of heat, the Naipo massager has 8 nodes that work together, to provide you with a deep massage perfect for tight knots and tension.
Both my husband and myself have used this several times, when you first put it on, it does feel quite intense but after a couple of minutes you soon get used to the deep massaging and start to enjoy it, I found it particularly helpful for my lower back pain, you just wrap the Naipo around your back turn it on and add heat if required.

The massaging pack itself is quite heavy duty and really looks the part, it has two handles to put your hands through when wearing around your shoulders to keep it in place, as I mentioned earlier it has 8 nodes that knead and massage your muscles in both an clockwise and anticlockwise motion, just press the heat button to add a gentle warmth to the massage.

My hubby loves this things and has a go whenever he can, he really enjoys the neck and shoulder massager and says it's great after a stressful day at work, to really loosen those knots.

The Niapo massager is super easy to use no complicated instructions and no batteries to go flat, just plug into the mains, and turn on, you can also add heat or change the direction of the massaging, its that easy, just get comfy on the couch or in bed, turn on the tv and enjoy a deep shiatsu massage.

We have both enjoyed using the massager, and found it beneficial, the Naipo shiatsu massager is available to purchase from Amazon, an is currently on offer at £37.99.

Lifestyle - Baking cranberry and chocolate chip mini scones

Hey lovelies,

I've been feeling inspired creatively lately that even applies to the kitchen, I have been experimenting with new foods and just generally enjoying this creative spell.

Now I love a good traditional scone filled with dried fruit, but I know many, including my youngest son do no not enjoy sultanas or raisins, so how to mix it up, how to take the humble scone to new heights, and tickle the whole family's tastebuds.

Cranberry and chocolate chip scones

And then it came to me in a flash of inspiration, haha, why not get seasonal it's heading towards that time of the year when the cranberry makes its appearance on the baking scene, and cranberry and chocolate are a match made in heaven, so there the idea was born for Cranberry and Chocolate chip Scones, I made mini ones, perfect mouthfuls of yumminess but just use a bigger cutter to make less, bigger scones the choice is yours.

Ingredients

250g sr flour
50g caster sugar
1/2 tsp baking powder
100g cold butter
1 large egg
70ml milk
50g choc chips
50g dried cranberries

How to make

Preheat oven to 200c/400f/gm6, line a baking sheet with greaseproof paper.

Sift the flour into a bowl adding in the sugar, baking powder and butter, rub until resembles breadcrumbs.

Add the fruit/choc chips, the beaten egg and about half of the milk, mix together with your hands to form a dough add more milk if required.

Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and roll to about 3cm thick, cut out scones using a round cutter and lay on prepared baking sheet, brush with milk and bake for around 12 minutes until golden. Allow to cool on a wire rack, if you can wait before devouring with a dollop of good jam.

Fashion - Embracing what makes me different as a Fashion blogger

Hey lovelies,

I've had this post floating about in my head for a while, what makes my blog unique? in a sea of fashion blogs, what makes me different? When you think fashion blogger, what sort of person do you imagine them to be? before I became a fashion blogger, I thought young (mid twenties), slim frame, relatively tall, lived in a big city eg, London, Manchester, and had plenty of money to spend on fashion and camera equipment.

What makes me different?

Now I realise there are all sorts of fashion bloggers out there, all with different body types, different styles, in locations from cities to rural countryside and that's ok! Who wants to look at a sea of photo's that all look the same when scrolling through Instagram, or reading blogs? I know I don't, I'm sick of influencer xxx on a yacht in the med in her size 6 bikini that cost over a £100, or the same Gucci belt and bag outfits shot in locations I can only dream of!

I wanna see women like me, women who shop in Topshop or who have massive saved lists on Asos. Women who look for quiet places to take outfit pictures cause you feel a tit getting all posy and shit in front of strangers. I prefer bloggers who have there own style, a way of dressing that doesn't make them a clone, whose photographic style is there own, and who is unique.

Cause you feel like a tit getting all posy and shit in front of strangers

That's what I aim to be, ME, with my unique style, and my unique look. Yes I'm pretty short, I'm not a size 6, and I'm certainly not twenty something but you know what that's ok, I'm ME.

That's what makes blogging different from conventional fashion journalism, you get a real person's take on trends and styles, rather than those unrealistic guides in magazines that require you to have a shit tonne of money, and look like a fashion victim in impractical, and outlandish outfits.

So that's what I'm gonna do, I'm just gonna plod on sharing my favourite outfits, shot in not particularly glamorous locations and hope people like them, saying that how amazing is Oxburgh Hall as a backdrop? I think we don't always remember that we have these little gems in our countryside.
