Gaining a little weight and body confidence

This post comes to you from my Summer holiday in Kos, now I don't know about you, but summer holidays are a hotbed of anxiety around my body confidence issues. I'm not sure what's the perfect bikini beach body, but I am sure I do not have it........

Holiday beauty essentials

I feel like I've mentioned this once or twice previously, but in case you didn't know, I'm going on holiday in less than a week. We are flying off to sunny Kos an island we have visited several times, and  keep going back. This time we have upgraded and are staying in a more swish hotel then we are used to, which i'm so looking forward to, will be nice to have a little bit of luxury, we could both certainly do with relaxing, there is also a spa, so can anticipate a massage at some point.

Anywho, on to my Holiday Beauty Essentials, and what I will be packing in my suitcase.

2019 Travel Bucket list

Although we have yet to go on our 2018 Summer holiday, I am of course already thinking ahead to next year. Now my boys are older, my husband and I have decided it is our time to travel more, see more places, do more things, eat more food and of course drink more cocktails!!

2019 travel bucket list

There are so many places we haven't visited together and are on our bucket list. We are both big fans of Greece and have visited a few places, but the beauty of the Greek islands is there are so many to choose from, so Number 1 on our list would certainly be Greece. In fact we are off to Kos later this month, but Halkidiki and Crete are both islands we have yet to visit.

Next up for me I think would be Croatia, I have seen or heard so many people talk about how beautiful the country is, although it is a downer they beat us in the world cup, I won't hold that against them, those beaches look just too beautiful to pass up.

Another place that interests us is Portugal, I went many years ago and loved the sandy coved beaches, and would love to go back again this time with the Mr, the seafood is devine and I think my husband would love the Piri Piri chicken he does like a bit of spice.

Malta has also made it onto this bucket list, the coastline looks simply stunning and the history really interests us, we don't just lay by the pool, eating and drinking cocktails, we do like a bit of culture thrown in.

When it comes to booking a holiday I like it to be an easy process and of course a good price (saves more money for those aforementioned cocktails) Holiday Gems, have loads of holidays to pick from at reasonable prices, the website is easy peasy to use, and they give you a bit of background on the area you are planning on visiting. They also offer not just the traditional 7/14 day holidays, but shorter durations to.

Everything on this list is in Europe and not that far, for us that's because there are so many countries on our doorstep we have yet to visit, plus the short flight times mean its possible to schedule these places in as a short break, meaning more holidays and that cannot be a bad thing........

What's on your travel bucket list? I would love to know.

Thinking about a vegan lifestyle and is it right for me

Going vegan, living a vegan lifestyle and the possible health benefits of a plant based diet have been highly publicised in the last few years, with many celebrities and influencers shouting from the rooftops about the lifestyle. The movement has certainly gained momentum and supermarkets are bringing out vegan friendly products on the weekly, making it so much easier to go vegan.

Living room makeover wishlist

This year my home has been having a bit of a revamp, redecorating our bedroom, dining room, kitchen and hallway. We then took a break, because A) had had enough of painting and B) money, decorating is an expensive affair.

7 under £7 beauty edit

I am a beauty lover, but I also like a bargain, and cannot see the point in buying an expensive product, when a cheaper brand does what I want. I'm not saying I do not use some pricier products because I do, but they have to earn their right to be in my beauty stash, and I will often try cheaper brands first before taking the plunge and buying something a bit more expensive.

Feeling forgotten by fashion

This is a post that has been brewing for a while, and is something that I feel strongly, and it's about time I talked about how I'm
Feeling forgotten by fashion

I have loved fashion, clothes, trends for as long as I can remember, my mum has regaled a conversation with me as a 2 year old, refusing to wear a dress on many an occasion. And later I distinctly remember trying my damndest to ruin some school shoes I hated. Of course through my teenage years I made some questionable choices when it came to fashion, and my God why, would I refuse to wear a coat even though it was cold, because it would hide said questionable outfit.

Vegan carrot cake with lemon buttercream recipe

Vegan baking is somewhat of new territory to me, but any self respecting cake eater, whether she finds herself going dairy free or not, needs cake. I have tried a few vegan cakes while being out about, and decided I needed to find a recipe I could bake myself.

That's when I decided to research a carrot cake recipe, and came up with this recipe for vegan carrot cake with lemon buttercream.

Three ways to style a black slip dress

Until recently I didn't actually own a black slip dress, even though I do think they are a pretty great piece to have in your wardrobe, and possibly come under the the title of a wardrobe essential. I mean what is not to love about them, they are black, they are flattering for most figures, they look great in both Summer and Autumn, and go with whatever you have in your wardrobe to make an outfit that looks effortless but still individual.

August beauty favourites

We are nearing the end of yet another month, and are drawing towards the end of Summer here in the UK, I for one am sad about this, I know there seems to be a thing about Autumn, and everyone is counting down the days for it, well not me.... I shall be hanging on for as long as I can. It helps that I haven't had my Summer holiday yet, so I get to live Summer time for that bit longer. This months favourites reflect the warm weather and the fact I am living for Summer.

My four ingredient dairy free chocolate ice cream recipe

Now if like me you are dairy free, you are going to wanna stick around for this recipe. I have a dairy intolerance meaning eating foods containing dairy causes me pain and bloating, therefore I actively avoid eating such foods. Although milk crops up in things you just don't expect it to like crisps, but that is a different story for another day ( food producers stop putting milk in things )

My four ingredient dairy free chocolate ice cream recipe

I am a massive ice cream fan, but buying dairy free ice cream, is a hit n miss affair, with some brands just not hitting the mark on flavour, and all being overpriced in my opinion, and rarely on offer!

Moonlight melts wax melts review

You may or may not know, I love scenting my home, I find it so comforting and relaxing to have a wax melt or candle burning filling the house with fragrance. But my obsession intensifies into Autumn and winter, I dunno what it is but the need to become cosy hightens. So in anticipation of the cooler months, and because we have had a bit of wet dreary weather, since the heatwave broke, I decided to place my first order with Moonlight melts.

London, places to eat, what's next on my list

Although I do not live in London, myself and my husband do visit fairly often. We both love the capital and all it has to offer, eg seeing the sights, and shopping. We also like to go off the beaten track,  we love the Camden area, it has such a cool relaxed vibe, that feels different from central London and it is packed with food establishments and pubs, perfect for taking the load of your feet. You can chill with a beer and of course a meal and do a spot of people watching. Last time we visited London, Purrezza vegan pizza restaurant was on our list and we loved it, I always like to search online for a website with recommendations before a visit in to the city.

So where to next?

Well here is what’s on my list;

My home improvement plans and wish list

You may of seen earlier in the year, I was on a decorating buzz, I redecorated our bedroomdining room and hall, stairs and landing, as well as giving the kitchen a lick of paint to freshen it up. Things then slowed on the decorating front due to the hot weather, and of course that little bug bare, MONEY.

The Animal print trend what to buy

Animal print never really disappears but it does go quiet every now and then, but it is back in a BIG way, every clothing website you visit, animal print features heavily in the NEW in section. You literally cannot get away from it, and I think it's gonna feature massively in Autumn/Winter fashion. So if you are not already on board with the trend, you probably will be by Christmas.

Garnier skinactive NEW pure charcoal black tissue mask review

I am a sucker for a face mask, especially if it's NEW in the shops, my curiosity gets the better of me and I just have to snap it up.

I have recently got into sheet masks, I must admit I never used to be to keen on them, but I have persevered and now enjoy the cooling feeling and I certainly enjoy the super soft hydrated skin, I have after using it.

Recently I picked up this new offering, Garnier skinactive pure charcoal black tissue mask , a black charcoal based hydrating mask, that promises to purify and hydrate, and I am all up for that.

Purezza Camden the Vegan Pizza restaurant everyone wil love

Now as a disclaimer, I am not a Vegan, however I do have to eat dairy free, so by default when eating out I often choose the "safe" Vegan option. Since going dairy free, there has been a PIZZA shaped hole in my life, that has up till now been impossible to fill, often Vegan pizza, is either cheeseless or has a sparse topping of frankly inedible "fake" cheese.

So when I heard about Purezza, a completely vegan restaurant serving pizza with their own vegan cheese, I was sold on the idea.

Jumpsuit styling, finding the one for you

Jumpsuits are having their moment, and I have been dying to get in on the action, except I'm not sure they suit me. I have tried on tens of jumpsuits, and had not found one that didn't make me look like a sack of potatoes. The one featuring in this post, is a little number I picked up on a whim from Primark, and I must admit when I first tried it on, I was sure I was going to return it, but with a little tweaking in the styling, I decided to keep it, and here I am attempting to rock it.

Let me know in the comments if you think I pull it off!

Late Summer buys that will transition into Autumn

This "heat wave" seems to be continuing indefinitely, putting everyone in the UK in uncharted waters. We are simply not used to long hot Summers, and tend to not invest in to many Summer pieces, unless you are going away, there is no point.

Leopard print not just for the jungle ( including my high street picks )

Animal print, especially good old leopard has been about for ages, and personally I am a fan. Don't get me wrong I'm not looking to look like an extra from George of the Jungle, but animal print done right looks pretty cool, well at least I think so, what about you ??

The dress I am wearing here is an old one, picked up from Newlook a few years back now, I always dig it out, come the warmer months, because leopard print never goes out of style, therefore making anything with the print on an investment.

Denim is always a good idea

You guys know this but I love denim, in all its forms, its my default setting, my go to, what I feel like me in.......

Denim is always a good idea..............................

I have been branching out and trying new things, but the addiction is real, it may be to hot for jeans, however a denim skirt works in summer, meaning I can wear my beloved denim without overheating.

What I love about a denim skirt, it's so versatile, just like a favourite pair of jeans, a denim skirt works with everything, T-shirt & trainers, tick, a cami top & heels, tick, a crop top & sandals, tick. I'm sure you are getting the picture now, denim is, and must always be a staple in any wardrobe.

Printkick, stationery for yourself and or business

If like me, you are a stationery lover this post is for you, Printick is a great website for products for your home office or business, selling everything from notebooks and pens to travel mugs. The website has stationery that can be bought singular or in bulk, allowing you to kit out everyone in your business or to offer potential clients/customers as gifts.

Printkick review

You can choose a range of products in different colours and add your own brand or logo, creating a bit of advertising as well as practical products you will use on the daily.

When I had the opportunity to try the website, I found it easy to use, with the helpful option to chat, if needed. Being the massive coffee drinker that I am I choose a travel mug from the travel mug section, and they kindly sent me a goody bag, which is a practical pouch, a screen saver cloth, pen and 3 in 1 adapter.

Printkick review

First up if like me, you have coffee flowing through your veins at all times, an on the go travel mug is a must, and boy is this one good, just make your coffee/tea screw the lid on and go. The cup is cool to the touch on the outside and has a nifty open/close catch meaning this mug does not leak all in your handbag, and it keeps your drink hot for literally hours, I am so impressed.

Printkick review

As for the pouch it is perfect storage for a tablet or small laptop, protecting the screen. The notebook is one of those lovely soft touch covers with a handy elastic to keep it closed, the pen has a nice feel and writes lovely, and how handy is the 3 in 1 cable.

If you are looking for some cool on brand products, I recommend giving Printkick a look.
