What I've been using on my dry hair with greasy roots

This may sound stupid but I always use hair products for dry and or coloured hair, well obviously because my hair is both of the above, BUT in doing so my roots get mega greasy making my hair look lank and need washing more frequently, neither I think you will agree are particularly delightful.

Well that is until I discovered the L'oreal Elvive Extraordinary Clay range, here's the clever thing about this range it treats greasy roots while hydrating dry hair, just what my barnet needs.

L'oreal Elvive Extraordinary clay

I use the the pre shampoo mask, to soak up excess grease, I then go on to use the shampoo and conditioner as normal. This has really helped my roots to be less greasy. I can get away with washing my hair only 2/3 times a week, which for me is amazing as I have a lot of hair, and washing, drying ect takes yonks. But what about my dry ends you may ask, well they are happy to, my hair looks and feels softer and cleaner and just healthier really.

So if like me, your hair is a bit of a contradiction, having greasy roots and dry ends, I would check out this range, its really worked for me.......

My bedroom makeover on a budget

Since the start of the year, I have been on one, when it comes to my home decor, basically the new year started and I hated every room in my house, not ideal you may say, well know but its given me the opportunity to immerse myself in all things interiors, and create a shit tonne of Pinterest boards.

So far this year, I have redecorated my dining room, painted my kitchen, sorted out my office area and most recently tackled the bedroom. If you could of seen what a mess it was, you could understand the term tackle, the master bedroom had not been decorated at all in the ten years I have lived in my current home, and boy did it show. The walls where grubby, the furniture shoddy, basically the room was drab and pretty depressing, and we where desperate to give the room a new lease of life, and make it the relaxing sanctuary we both deserve.

So what did we do ?

First up the dark furniture that was sapping all the light was sold, and some clean white minimal furniture was ordered, we choose a sliding door wardrobe with a full length mirror to maximize space and light and a double chest of drawers as we certainly needed more clothes storage.
When it came to paint, we new we wanted to keep the room light, and choose Cotton flower from the b&q premium paint range, we where so impressed with the paint we choose from the same range for the dinning room, it was a know brainer we would choose another from the range when decorating the bedroom. Not only do they have a great selection of colours but the premium range is suitable for all surfaces, meaning we could paint the ceiling, walls and woodwork all in the same paint, which in turn was not only quicker, but makes the room look larger. (pretty good right)

Once the hard work was over, with the painting finished and the furniture built, comes the fun bit of adding those things that make it yours. We already had the bedding, curtains and lightshade we bought them in Asda last year, the quality of Asda bedding is so good, I love the brushed cotton bedding, and as we still loved them, they went back in the room, as did the shoe prints we picked up in IKEA a few years back, and the Paris prints bought in the city on our first weekend break away together. We then choose some new things including the fluffy rug picked up in Aldi, of all places for £15! The black panther and holding hands prints are from Desenio, I bloody love that website and having already bought prints from there new I wanted to add some more to my bedroom. Lastly the bed side lamps are another bargain picked up in the Dunelm sale for a tenner each, I think they look much more expensive than that, and what sold them to my husband was not just the price but the fact they are touch lamps and can be turned off and on by just touching them. (Little things please little minds)

We are so happy with our new room, its unrecognisable to what it was before, and we did it all on a tight budget, you really don't have to spend a fortune to create the home you want.

My top 5 go to blogs

Across the blogging community, there can be back biting and bitching, well lets be honest any collective that is predominantly female is often blighted by nastiness and negativity. There is enough shit going on in the world in real life, lets keep our blogs and social media a nice place to escape to.
So on that note, today's post is all about my favourite blogs, where I go when I need to relax and unwind.

 1) I had to start this post with my best friend Hayley's blog, Haysparkle. Hayley shares predominantly beauty, she's a real enabler and is responsible for many of my beauty purchases. She also writes a bit of fashion, lifestyle and you have to check out her baking posts, her latest recipe for Nutella brownies looks insane.

2) Fashion is my passion, my true love, and one of my fav fashion bloggers is Chloe from The Little Plum, her style is on point, her writing is insightful and thought provoking and I look forward to her posts.

3) Another favourite fashionista is Hannah Gale, I love her outfits, and enjoyed her pregnancy updates. I can't wait to see how her style evolves now shes a mumma.

4) I love interiors, so Bang on Style, is a go to for me, I love her DIY's and room makeover posts. There's also plenty of fashion and beauty to keep me reading.

5) When I fancy a bit of escapism I love to binge travel posts and for that QueenBeady is a must, her upcoming French trip sounds amazing and I must admit I'm very jealous.

Let me know, if this post has helped you find a new blog to enjoy, and please share with me your favourites.

Friendship, its better to have quality over quantity

When I was at school, I was fairly popular and had a big circle of friends, after school was a lot harder, things changed as we all went in different directions, many going off to Uni, while I was working and in a serious relationship. This relationship went on to become my marriage, this was not always happy and I had few people I called friends and know close friends, as unfortunately he wasn't keen on sharing me!
Fast forward many years, and that relationship is a thing of the past, as our many of the "friends" I've met along the way. I've learnt its ok to let people go and move on, sometimes these friends are not meant to be long term, but just for a certain period in your life, and that some "friends" are not friends at all. If its one sided, if its all about them, if they lie, break away being around toxic behavior is not good for my mental health, friendships should be a two way street.

Now of course I know loads of people, some I stop and chat too in the street, some I pretend not to of seen, and I put my head down carry on briskly hoping they don't call me over. ( come on I'm not the only one who does this?)
And then there is one friend, who I would say is my only close pal, whom I exchange texts with everyday, who likes mostly the same things as me, although she does have a crap taste in TV shows, but I'll let that go! :) who can't stand the same people as me, and categorically hates me ex husband even though shes never met him. (That's friendship right there).

We support each other when times are hard, but also know when to give the other person space, and we praise and big up each others achievements.  (something not all so called friends do)

As I've got older I have learnt many lessons, and have become a lot more reserved and careful whom I share my life with, experience has taught me self preservation and sadly not everyone is what they initially seem. But on the positive side, you do not need loads of friends, one will defiantly do....

So here's a big soppy shout out to my best girl Hayley,  Check out her blog if you fancy

My top picks from Avernaco (Natural, cruelty free skincare products)

Us blogger types are lucky enough to have the opportunity to try new brands and products, and for me ifs its anything skincare related, I'm happy as I love trying new skincare, we all should really take more care of our skin and think about the products we put on it.

Impact, Way & Purpose:

Our goal is to help everyone feel the best they can, and promote personal care. We’re a young company of people that believe totally natural products will truly change your world!
Here at Avernaco we know how important it is to take care yourself – that’s right, we are entitled to that all important ‘me time’! We think that everyone deserves to look and feel their best and we are 100% committed to make that easy with truly good for you products. From the first ingredient to the last, we are proud that the products are natural and free from any nasties! Good for you and great for your future!

And come on, it that blurb doesn't get you excited, than I dunno what will....

I choose four products from the range to try, but I'm telling you these guys have got loads, everything from toothpaste, to handcream, to sun protection, you name it these lot have you got you covered.

Now this is not just your bog standard handcream, oh no! This is a barrier cream, that acts as a liquid shield protecting your hands from irritants for 4 hole hours. So whether your cleaning the loo, or applying fake tan, your hands are shielded by the barrier nothing penetrates the skin, not only are they protected but also moisterised.  I really suffer with dry hands and I must say, I am loving this cream and it saves me applying handcream millions of times throughout the day.

Who else constantly has dry lips this time of year? Mine drive me up the wall, and I feel like I am constantly applying one lip product or another, not any more lovelies, oh no, I haven't reached for another lip balm since I've had this. It's that good this Paw Paw ointment really does the trick with my lips, It contains coconut oil and shea butter, but doesn't have that gunky or sticky feeling, it just feels nice and really hydrates my lips.

When I saw this on the website, I was really intrigued, a Coconut toothpaste really? well once you get over the fact this toothpaste is not minty like every other toothpaste I've ever used. I really like it, as does my hubby, the taste is pleasant and not over powering and we have both feel are teeth are starting to look less stained. I'm intrigued as to how white my teeth will go, but we can both definitely see an improvement, more so than with the brand of whitening paste we had been using.

I've left what I feel is the most impressive product till last. If you have really dry skin, I'm talking cracked and sore then this gel is the product for you. I use it on my feet, because me feet are gross, the skin gets so dry and my heels crack, let me tell you I have tried a tonne of foot creams, most being fair to middling. This one really blows them all out of the water. The gel sinks straight in, know greasy cream that takes ages to dry. I use this morning and night and my feet feel so nice, it's like walking on clouds.

I vary rarely love every single product from a range when I try them out, don't get me wrong, if I write a positive review, I like the products, but not always enough to repurchase, I'll often use them up then go back to what I was using before, or on to something new that has arrived on my doormat, but hand on heart I love all of these and can defo see me placing an order when I've run out of what I have.
If you are looking to try some new toiletries or skincare products, and are keen to use natural ingredients, I would recommend checking out Avernaco

Trying to wear what I have in my wardrobe

I have a bad habit....

I buy clothes, wear them and then forget them, it's a bad habit which needs to stop, for two main reasons. 1) I can't afford it. and 2) I am running out of places to put said clothes.

Recently, well since the beginning of the new year, I have been on a bit of a weird buzz, where I have been sorting and tidying my belongings, to you this may not be weird but for someone as messy and hoards as much as I do, its a pretty big deal. I have donated things to charity, that I wonder whatever possessed me to buy, but I have also found things that I once loved, and want to love again.

This top, has actually not been worn successfully on many occasions, what the hell do you mean you may ask, well on at least three occasions I have got something down the front, and I've had to change before leaving the house. One day I had a hair appointment and didn't wear a coat and between the car park and the salon the heavens opened, I looked like a contestant in a wet t-shirt competition when I walked through the day and ended up getting my hair done, topless under a gown while my top dried on the radiator. So when I say It's not been worn successfully many times, you can see what I mean.

The camo jacket has a less traumatic story, I just forgot about it, but not anymore, Its resurfaced and I am quite digging it. I love wearing outfits that shouldn't really work, a frilly blouse, kitten heeled boots and a camo jacket shouldn't really go, but I like it, I love tweaking the rules a bit.

 Jeans - Dorothy perkins
Camo jacket - Topshop(similar)
Top - Newlook (old)
Boots - Dorothy Perkins(similar)
I'm working on, being a better shopper and not buying things I don't need, and I'm really going to try and wear what I already own.

I'm not making any promises but I am going to try, Promise!!
