February's beauty favourites

Well considering January was at least 75 days long, hasn't February just flown by? I can't believe we are on the cusp of March, where does the time go? Although personally I can't wait for Spring so here's hoping March doesn't drag like January did.

February beauty favourites

This months beauty favourites are skincare heavy, and for no other reason than I haven't bought a lot of new makeup recently.

So lets crack on.......

Garnier skin active oil infused miscellar water - I always use a Miscellar water in the evening to remove makeup. before using my trusty Cleanse & Polish. When I saw this oil infused one I thought it looked interesting so in the interest of Science,  I bought it to try it out. I find this oil infused cleanser is much better at removing mascara and eye makeup than a regular Miscellar water, and means less dragging on the skin to remove stubborn makeup. It also leaves my skin really soft and not at all greasy despite being oil based.

St. Ives Even and bright, pink lemon and mandarin scrub - In the morning when I have a shower I like to cleanse my face with my magnitone cleansing brush, previously I used a L'oreal scrub with it, but fancied a change so picked this one up instead, not only does it smell incredible but it does the job of cleansing my skin, leaving it looking brighter and clear. Love it!

Natralus Essential Paw Paw balm*  - I use this lip balm everyday without fail and it is hands down the best one I have ever tried, as with everything from Avernaco its made with all natural ingredients, so no worries about any nasty chemicals.

Now for the makeup.....

Too Faced Merry Macarons palette -  Is unfortunately no longer available to buy, it was a limited edition Christmas product for 2016, and something I loved and used loads, then like much of my makeup got lost and forgotten. That is until recently when I re-organised my makeup storage. As with all Too faced palettes I have tried the quality is insanely good and look at those shades .......

Makeup Revolution Conceal & Define Concealer -  I couldn't not mention this product in my favourites, as since I bought it last month I have used it everyday, it has received a lot of hype, and in my opinion for good reason. Read my full review here

B-Liv bubbly bright oxygenating mask review

I am a massive skincare fan, I just love trying new ideas and products, so when I got the opportunity to try a bubble mask, I was certainly intrigued.

B-liv bubble mask review

This isn't a mask in the traditional sense, it doesn't dry, or peel off, it bubbles, the bubbly mask contains oxygen and rice powder that work together to brighten your complexion.
Just rub a small amount of product into your face, and wait for it to start bubbling and fizzing away, after 5 to 10 mins massage in for a final deeper cleanse, before rinsing.
The O2 bubbly bright oxygenating mask* feels light and fresh on the skin, with no obvious scent. When massaging the mask into the skin it feels creamy and once rinsed my skin feels lovely and I think looks brighter.

I have really been enjoying using the mask, my skin looks brighter, you don't have to leave it on for ages and its not a faff to remove, so it gets a thumbs up from me.

Glam & Style chopstick styler review

When it comes to styling my hair I'm lazy, as in most aspects of my life, I want a solution that requires minimal effort and not a lot of time. Now I have a lot of hair, and if a product is gonna take ages to get the desired result, lets face it I'm not gonna use it.

Glam & style chopstick styler review

Now what impressed me with the Glam & style chopstick styler* is just how quick it is to get a full head of curls. I can curl all my hair, in 10 minutes, now that is pretty impressive. Just take sections of hair, the smaller the section the tighter the curl, wrap around the styler and hold for 4/5 seconds before allowing the curl to gently drop out, repeat until all your hair is curled.

Glam & Style chopstick styler

The chopstick styler itself, is very lightweight, with no confusing settings, just turn it on and go. It takes up hardly any space to store and happens to be very aesthetically pleasing in the black and rose gold colour way.

Another bloody banging plus is how long my hair stays curly, I can curl my hair and it stays curly for 3 days, yeah 3 days. When I've curled my hair with other stylers the curl has dropped out significantly even by the next day, let alone day 3.

I have been so impressed with the Glam & Style chopstick styler, and would defo recommend.

The Glam & Style chopstick styler is available from Amazon for only £24.99, along with the brands other styling tools.

I've succumbed to the cardigan

I've succumbed to the hype of the cardigan, and I'm not sure there is any going back. I'm aware this statement makes it sound like, I've never worn a good ol cardi, I have of course but just for slouching around the house, not a "nice" one that I actually like.

I have been thinking about making a purchase for a while, but when Newlook put loads of cardigans into the sale, it tipped me over the edge and I had to get one. Unfortunately my local store is tiny, so doesn't have a huge selection, but they did have this lush mustard chenille number for £12, so the deal was done, I owned a cardigan.

Next up was how to wear it, I'm not a fan of the mumsy look, and you guys know I like to keep my outfits very casual and 99.9% of the time that involves jeans, add in a band tee, trainers and a baker boy, and you have a "Kate" look. Casual and comfy with a vague attempt to be cool ;)

Trainers - Adidas
Bakerboy - Accessorize ( similar )

The only problem is, one is not enough, I'm gonna need more! how perfect will a cardigan be in Spring, when you don't need your "big" coat every time you leave the house. Just throw on your cardi, over a t-shirt, shirt a jumper or even a dress if you are so inclined, the possibilities are endless, I'm currently mentally assembling outfits in my head, that involve a cardigan, yes I am that tragic.

Also what do you think of the photo's? we tried some new things this time, I think the Mr is getting quite the pro.

What I've been using on my dry hair with greasy roots

This may sound stupid but I always use hair products for dry and or coloured hair, well obviously because my hair is both of the above, BUT in doing so my roots get mega greasy making my hair look lank and need washing more frequently, neither I think you will agree are particularly delightful.

Well that is until I discovered the L'oreal Elvive Extraordinary Clay range, here's the clever thing about this range it treats greasy roots while hydrating dry hair, just what my barnet needs.

L'oreal Elvive Extraordinary clay

I use the the pre shampoo mask, to soak up excess grease, I then go on to use the shampoo and conditioner as normal. This has really helped my roots to be less greasy. I can get away with washing my hair only 2/3 times a week, which for me is amazing as I have a lot of hair, and washing, drying ect takes yonks. But what about my dry ends you may ask, well they are happy to, my hair looks and feels softer and cleaner and just healthier really.

So if like me, your hair is a bit of a contradiction, having greasy roots and dry ends, I would check out this range, its really worked for me.......

My bedroom makeover on a budget

Since the start of the year, I have been on one, when it comes to my home decor, basically the new year started and I hated every room in my house, not ideal you may say, well know but its given me the opportunity to immerse myself in all things interiors, and create a shit tonne of Pinterest boards.

So far this year, I have redecorated my dining room, painted my kitchen, sorted out my office area and most recently tackled the bedroom. If you could of seen what a mess it was, you could understand the term tackle, the master bedroom had not been decorated at all in the ten years I have lived in my current home, and boy did it show. The walls where grubby, the furniture shoddy, basically the room was drab and pretty depressing, and we where desperate to give the room a new lease of life, and make it the relaxing sanctuary we both deserve.

So what did we do ?

First up the dark furniture that was sapping all the light was sold, and some clean white minimal furniture was ordered, we choose a sliding door wardrobe with a full length mirror to maximize space and light and a double chest of drawers as we certainly needed more clothes storage.
When it came to paint, we new we wanted to keep the room light, and choose Cotton flower from the b&q premium paint range, we where so impressed with the paint we choose from the same range for the dinning room, it was a know brainer we would choose another from the range when decorating the bedroom. Not only do they have a great selection of colours but the premium range is suitable for all surfaces, meaning we could paint the ceiling, walls and woodwork all in the same paint, which in turn was not only quicker, but makes the room look larger. (pretty good right)

Once the hard work was over, with the painting finished and the furniture built, comes the fun bit of adding those things that make it yours. We already had the bedding, curtains and lightshade we bought them in Asda last year, the quality of Asda bedding is so good, I love the brushed cotton bedding, and as we still loved them, they went back in the room, as did the shoe prints we picked up in IKEA a few years back, and the Paris prints bought in the city on our first weekend break away together. We then choose some new things including the fluffy rug picked up in Aldi, of all places for £15! The black panther and holding hands prints are from Desenio, I bloody love that website and having already bought prints from there new I wanted to add some more to my bedroom. Lastly the bed side lamps are another bargain picked up in the Dunelm sale for a tenner each, I think they look much more expensive than that, and what sold them to my husband was not just the price but the fact they are touch lamps and can be turned off and on by just touching them. (Little things please little minds)

We are so happy with our new room, its unrecognisable to what it was before, and we did it all on a tight budget, you really don't have to spend a fortune to create the home you want.

My top 5 go to blogs

Across the blogging community, there can be back biting and bitching, well lets be honest any collective that is predominantly female is often blighted by nastiness and negativity. There is enough shit going on in the world in real life, lets keep our blogs and social media a nice place to escape to.
So on that note, today's post is all about my favourite blogs, where I go when I need to relax and unwind.

 1) I had to start this post with my best friend Hayley's blog, Haysparkle. Hayley shares predominantly beauty, she's a real enabler and is responsible for many of my beauty purchases. She also writes a bit of fashion, lifestyle and you have to check out her baking posts, her latest recipe for Nutella brownies looks insane.

2) Fashion is my passion, my true love, and one of my fav fashion bloggers is Chloe from The Little Plum, her style is on point, her writing is insightful and thought provoking and I look forward to her posts.

3) Another favourite fashionista is Hannah Gale, I love her outfits, and enjoyed her pregnancy updates. I can't wait to see how her style evolves now shes a mumma.

4) I love interiors, so Bang on Style, is a go to for me, I love her DIY's and room makeover posts. There's also plenty of fashion and beauty to keep me reading.

5) When I fancy a bit of escapism I love to binge travel posts and for that QueenBeady is a must, her upcoming French trip sounds amazing and I must admit I'm very jealous.

Let me know, if this post has helped you find a new blog to enjoy, and please share with me your favourites.
