The button up trend my highstreet picks

Now unless you have not visited a shop, been online or opened a magazine, you will know the button up trend is huge right now, with basically every high street store and online retailer buying into it. For me this is such a classic style, many of the pieces you invest in this summer will take you through seasons to come. The simplest way to get a bit of the button up action is with a simple white vest top, the fitted style goes with literally everything and means no having to tuck in and those awkward bumps under your clothes.

I have been trawling the interweb and kindly compiled some of my top picks from the high street just for you.... if you are looking for budget pieces I recommend looking in NEWLOOK they are killing this trend.

Another super easy way to wear buttons this summer, is the summer dress, whether it be bodycon, tea dress or midi, there are button up options to suit everyone's style and shape. Of course a dress can also be carried through into Autumn with a leather jacket and ankle boots, so what's stopping you ???

Will you be buying into the button up trend? or are you already deep in it? let me know in the comments......

Nars Velvet matte lip pencil Red Square Review

I have been on the hunt for the perfect orange toned red for Summer for a while now, and one rainy afternoon while browsing the internet for makeup, a far to regular occurrence! I came across the shade Red Square  in Nars velvet matte pencil range. Now I'm gonna sound like a bad blogger here, buttttttttt I have never tried anything from Nars, IKR!!

Nars Velvet matte lip pencil Red Square Review

I knew I was onto a winner though as I have heard nothing but good things about the about the Nars Velvet matte lip pencils , so I cheekily added it to my birthday list and was lucky enough to receive it on my big day.

So are they worth the hype........ Well the lip pencil applies like a dream, it feels creamy with zero dragging, its super pigmented and dries down almost immediately to a matte finish. It doesn't feel matte on the lips, I haven't experienced any dryness or discomfort in fact it feels pretty moisterising which makes a change for a matte lip product.. The colour for me is just what I was looking for, its red but not a Christmas red, its pretty orange toned and I think a perfect summer shade.

Does it stay put........Yes it stays put pretty well for a red lipstick, the thing is with brighter colours you can rarely find one that lasts, but this Nars one can deal with cold and hot drinks really well, with no transfer. Upon eating it does ware slightly on the inside of the lips as you would expect really but it still manages to look presentable. It can also be topped up easily, and still look great.

I will definitely be adding other shades from this range to my collection as I am smitten with the formula.

Simple skincare I recommend

Skincare is something that has become increasingly important to me as I have got older, because it doesn't matter how good the paint is if the canvas is shoddy.

My main skin concern is finding products suitable for my combination skin, that will add moisture where I need it without making my T Zone oily.

Simple skincare

Simple have always offered value for money when it comes to skincare, but is it to cheap to be good?

In a word NO, I have been putting three products from the Simple range to the test.

Hydrating cleansing oil - I have never used an oil when it comes to cleansing before, I must admit it's always scared me, will it make my skin oily? but I was so intrigued and it was on offer, so it came home with me. Now this product has really impressed me, it is so good at removing my makeup, like really good..... just add a few drops to your hands and massage into face, you literally see the makeup melting off your skin, then wipe with a warm wet muslin cloth, and tada clean skin, that doesn't feel greasy or oily but soft and clean. LOVE IT!

Hydrating water boost gel cream - This product was recommended by my friend Hayley from Haysparkle.com, she loves it and so do I. It offers just the right amount of hydration, in a light weight formulation, perfect to use both morning and night. A small amount goes a long way, leaving my skin smooth and moisterised. The dry areas of my face are happy and hydrated, as are the oily areas.

Water based sheet mask - Now we all love a sheet mask, and this Simple one is as good as any I have tried. It is very wet and feels pleasantly cool on my face. Just leave on for 15 minutes and hope know one comes to the door!! peel off and massage the excess product into your skin. My skin feels amazing after using this mask, really soft and smooth, and it definitely looks plumped and hydrated.

If you are looking for simple, skincare suitable for sensitive skin, I highly recommend giving SIMPLE a go!

My glowy summer makeup

When it comes to my makeup, I am not a fan of heavy full coverage foundations, even more so in the warmer months I like to go for a light coverage, my skin but better finish with a bit of a glow to it. So if that is your bag, stick around because I am gonna share the makeup products I have been choosing recently.

My glowy summer makeup

I recently made an asos order of makeup something I hadn't done before I purchased a mascara, which I have already reviewed and a cc cream, powder and setting spray which I am going to talk about in this post.

Like I said when it comes to base makeup in summer, I like lightweight products, luckily due to a new skincare regime, which I will talk about another time, my skin is looking pretty damn good. I start with a little concealer on any redness, I like the makeup revolution conceal and define, and some barry m colour correction under my eyes and blend. Then that's when I go in with 3ina cc cream, I have shade 103 for reference. I pop a small amount I'm talking probably less than pea size on a oval brush, dot over my face and blend, you really do not need much product at all, to achieve a glowy skin like finish.

As this product is so glowy, which I like, I don't like to add to many powder products on top, so use a cream blush, and liquid highlighter. I do add a little powder bronzer at this stage to help give my face definition.

My glowy summer makeup
Revolution-conceal & define, Revolution - highlighter,

Of course I fill in my brows and then normally reach for either my naked heat palette or too faced sweet peach both perfect eye palettes for a summer makeup look, whack on the aforementioned mascara, Pop on some lippie, either a nude or an orange/red. Then give my chin, nose and forehead a quick dusting of Nip & fab banana setting powder, This is the softest powder ever and works a dream at setting my makeup, without making me to matte, meaning I'm glowy rather than shiney! spritz with Mac prep and prime and that's it, simples!!

Vintage clothes shopping my tips

First up I wanna say I'm not an expert, I just wanted to share what I learnt from visiting a vintage fair last weekend, because it can be a bit intimidating when faced with rails and rails of clothes, and swarms of people.

My first tip, would be to get there early, although they fill up stock throughout the day, I reckon they defo put the best stuff out first, well I know I would. Another tip would be to have a game plan, especially if there is a particular piece you are after, eg a denim jacket, head to that section first, you will be much more relaxed for the rest of the visit once you have bagged that item you really want.

This next one may sound silly at first, but wear something lightweight, then you can slip things on over the top, saves queing up for the changing rooms or having to strip off in the middle of the hall!! Also bare in mind they are many other people on the hunt for a bargain so if you see something you like, grab it even if you are undecided because the chances are if you don't someone else will.

So what are good things to buy? Denim/leather jackets never go out of fashion and can save you a fortune if you buy vintage as well as giving you the benefit of having a far more unique item. I would go for dresses, tops and skirts in classic prints such as stripe, polka dot or floral. Retro sportswear is always a good choice to, old skool Adidas or puma t-shirts look great tucked into straight leg jeans or knotted and worn with high waisted skinnies. My next tip is to not worry about the size label, retro clothes sizing is often totally different to our modern sizes.

And lastly keep an open mind, and remember pieces can be styled with stuff already in your wardrobe, adding a belt for example can really change how a dress looks to how it does on the hanger. Also adding a modern twist to an outfit totally changes that vintage find into a gem, here I have added vans, a basket bag and aviators to give what could be quite a boring dress a bit of a boost.

3ina Ultra Volume Mascara review

I love trying new makeup, especially from a brand I haven't used before so when browsing Asos Face and Body, in search of a new mascara I found 3ina, I was intrigued, upon investigation found the brand to offer a range of products at a really good price point, they are made in Europe, and are cruelty and paraben free.

3ina ultra volume mascara review

I choose the Ultra volume mascara, as volumising mascaras are my thang!  if I could only use one makeup product it would be mascara, as I just feel it really opens up my hooded eyes and makes me look alive! When it comes to a mascara I am looking for of course volume, for it to be super black, to not transfer or smudge and to stay put for as long as I need it to. The 3ina ultra volumising mascara delivers, it does exactly what I want it to, I am so impressed. I suffer with hayfever and itchy eyes and even when my eyes are streaming the mascara stays put, yet is not a total nightmare to get off when I remove my makeup.

The wand grabs my lashes and coats each one, and the formula doesn't need building up, the picture above is one coat on my top lashes that's it, you do not have to work with this mascara to get results, one coat and you are good to go.

As you can probably tell from this glowing review I am taken by this brand, I also bought the bb cream and a review of that will be coming shortly.

What makeup product could you not do without? let me know in the comments.
