Hey lovelies,
Mine like many families have our little Christmas traditions, things that we do every year, my boys are pretty grown up now but we still do things that we did when they where small there is something comforting and reassuring about traditions especially at Christmas,
here are some of my families ones I wonder if your family has similar ones to, or you think mine are strange.
- Our outside lights always go up for December the 1st, we have a few tasteful lights outside, unlike my neighbour's house that looks like Christmas threw up on it.
- The weekend before Christmas we go to the local farm estate and pick a real tree, for me you can't be the experience of choosing your families tree, and bringing it home on the roof of the car.
- We even have a tradition when it comes to decorating the tree, my hubby does the manual bit of cutting any untidy bits of and putting it in its stand, and stringing the lights round it as I can never reach the top. I always add the baubles and decorations in my traditional red and gold theme, I'm quite particular with this job, then one of the boys puts the fairy on the top and one turns the lights on, they take turns each year.
- Christmas Eve we always have a Christmas eve buffet, we have done it since the boys where small, I'll bake things like sausage rolls and make a cake, this year I'm attempting a yule log, along with a snowball or two.
- Christmas Eve evening we always watch the Polar Express, I love the magical story about the boy who's not sure if he believes, now its more me and hubby watching it then the kids though.
- Christmas Day we always spend at home, but Mum, Dad and my bro always come round late Christmas morning to exchange gifts and have a Christmas drink, of course then like every family we stuff or faces to the point of exploding.
I hope you enjoyed reading about my Christmas traditions, what are your families ones? or are you starting new traditions in your new family maybe?

ReplyDeleteThis year is my first year hosting my own Christmas with my boyfriend rather than being at home, so we're mingling our family traditions and creating some new ones. Neither of us have ever had a real Christmas tree, so we'll be getting one soon!
