Travel - Catching the Winter Sun

Hoilday Gems

Hey lovelies,

As you may know, if you have read my recent post Our Greek island adventure Kos, or you follow me on Instagram, where I spammed my feed constantly with holiday photos, and I'm not even sorry, I have recently returned from my Summer holidays, and let me tell you since my return I have had some serious holiday blues. I am defo a Summer girl at heart and boy do I miss the Sun, the beaches and the adventure that we had while we were away.

So this got me to thinking about where I would next seek the sun and get my fix of sunshine and adventure. A winter sun holiday is always something I have wanted to do, I love the idea of getting away and leaving the British weather behind for a week or two, and feeling pretty smug while I'm at it, at everyone else at home, where it gets dark at 4pm and it's pretty much always raining.

I have recently discovered a new website offering low cost holidays, with destinations right up my street Holiday Gems, offers your regular destinations such as the Canaries, Malta & Spain, but the destination the really got me interested is Cape Verde, I have heard a few people mention Cape Verde but didn't know to much about it, but since seeing it on Holiday Gems, I have done some digging and it's really peaked my interest .

Not only is it not to far away (6 hours) it  seems to offer it all from warm sunny winter temperatures, idyllic beaches, to history and adventure. Me and my husband have really got into exploring the local area and culture when we visit a new place. From what I have read Cape Verde has plenty to offer including island hopping and Trekking as well as of course a bit of good old fashioned relaxation, which is something we all crave on a trip away.

Cape Verde is a group of islands of the west coast of Africa, which means it enjoys all year round sunshine and you don't have a massive time difference only an hour, so no jet lag to deal with either. Could this place sound anymore perfect?

Right I'm off to buy a lottery ticket, all this talk of holidays has got me itching to book my next flight.

Where is your ultimate destination to catch the Winter sun?

* This post is in collaboration with Holiday Gems, but all wonderlust is indeed my own!
