How to make a bauble wreath

While in a Pinterest black hole one evening, franticly adding pins to my many Christmas boards, I came across homemade wreaths, and bauble wreaths really grabbed my attention, they look so striking yet are such a simple idea, and fairly easy to assemble.

I am so happy with how my attempt turned out, I thought I would share it with you, so you to can get a bit crafty this Christmas.

Easy fluffy vegan pancakes

I LOVE PANCAKES, but since going dairy free, there has been a fluffy pancake hole in my life, that is until now. I have discovered a recipe that creates the fluffiest pancakes myself and my husband had ever had, and guess what they are easy to make, with store cupboard ingredients, NO need to go to the supermarket to search out some weird and frankly expensive ingredients.

Things To Think About Before A Home Expansion

Home improvement is something on a lot of people’s wish lists, including mine, ( I have just recently redecorated my living room) and a lot of the time we like to kick back and relax with a good daydream about how our homes will look with a new layout, or the space knocking out that wall in the living room will give you, or how sleek and shiny the bathroom will look with the new tiles. But before you get on with any of these plans, you’re going to have to take a few principles into consideration.

Home expansions can have a huge impact on your lifestyle, as well as the lifestyle of other people and creatures around you. (something I think we are all becoming more conscience of) So you need to be sure what you’re doing is healthy and safe, and that you’ve got the right permission to go ahead with it. So here’s a couple of things to think about.

Living with ME

Living with ME

MEMyalgic Encephalomyelitis, or CFSChronic fatigue syndrome is a chronic illness and like many chronic illnesses, not much is known about the exact cause, why the symptoms and severity differ so greatly. In fact in my experience often even so called medical professionals are not sure what it is, and how to treat it. I had a pharmacist only last week, say to me in a confused tone, "oh that's the fatigue thing isn't it" reassuring it is not.

My perfect Autumn makeup products

I think we are all guilty of this, once the nights start drawing in and the weather gets colder, we put away all our summer pinky, peach makeup and whack out the moodier, darker rusts, browns, purple and gold shades, it's like a timer goes off in our brains and we have to completely change how we have been doing our makeup for the last few months, and raid our beauty stash, it somehow makes the change to dreary weather more bearable.

So here is what I've found from the depths of my makeup collection and am embracing with all guns blazing this Autumn.

George at Asda Autumn/Winter homeware lust list

I am not a fan of the cold or Autumn/Winter in general so for me it's a perfect excuse for some interior changes to make my home cosy, so I can full on hibernate, trust me I would if I could.
George at Asda is always a favourite for homeware, but for me this time of the year is when they really excel themselves, helping me to up the cosy factor by 100%, and all at a very reasonable price.

So here is what I am currently lusting after from George homeware
George at Asda Autumn/Winter homeware lust list

As you can probably tell, I'm really into my neutral and grey shades at the moment, as my walls are prodimitly whites or greys these items will in fact go anywhere in the house, meaning when I inevitably get bored I can just move stuff around for a fresh look.
We are about to start decorating our living room to freshen it up and bring it in line with the rest of the down stairs which has been decorated this year. I hate decorating, but I do love the bit after, when the rooms all fresh and we can arrange our furniture and add in the new pieces we have chosen, and all in time for winter and of course CHRISTMAS !

Do you like any of my picks?

Autumn has well and truly arrived and October is rolling by at an alarming rate, so that makes it the perfect time to share what beauty products I have been loving this last month. To be honest many of these products will not be a surprise to anyone who has visited Kate's closet in October, as they are items I have banged on about, but the purpose of a favourites post is to share my favourites, so here goes.............................

I've stopped taking the pill, here's why

I've stopped taking the pill, here's why
Not much to do with the pill, but a cute picture taken in Kos where my outfit matched the building 馃槆

I stopped taking the pill, here’s why

I’ll start with a little backstory to this statement, I started Cerelle, ten years ago after meeting my now husband. Cerelle is one of the progesterone only, or mini pill. I was given this particular pill, due to having issues when I was younger on the combined pill, I could never find one that suited me, many causing me side effects such as headaches, nausea, weight gain and horrible pms.

I am all about the glow, I am not one for heavy full coverage foundations, preferring a more sheer natural look to my skin, and that is exactly what Clinique promise with their even better glow light reflecting makeup. So if that sounds up your street stick around!

My Dream Teddy Jacket from Newlook

So far this Autumn I have resisted adding to my wardrobe, and have been wearing what I already own, in a bid to discover what is missing from my collection. Despite owning some colourful clothes, often when I do not know what to wear, a default of all black sets in, and for those days I wanted a Jacket that added not only warmth but personality and colour to my outfit.

Autumn plans five things to do this Autumn

Hey you guys,

I have finally come round to the idea that Summer is over and it is in fact Autumn,  having a late Summer holiday meant I got to hang on to warm sunny weather for longer and tbh that was hard to let go of ! Controversially Summer is my favourite, I know bloggers have to love Autumn but I am a Summer baby, put me on the beach with the sun on my skin and I am happy, having said that I have come round to the idea that Autumn can involve some nice plans and activities.

Clean skin with REN

I have a confession, I'm a skincare junkie! There I've said it, I love skincare, I love trying new brands, new products and new ideas. I also love makeup, but if the canvas isn't at its best nor will the painting be, so for me beauty starts with skincare.

Recently I had the opportunity to try some products from REN, and I can honestly say I am shook, even after only a few weeks I can see and feel a difference in my skin.

Lakitira resort and village Kardamena Kos

We have been back from holiday, but a week and I am already thinking about getting away again. This years summer holiday was two weeks spent at the Lakitira resort, Kardamena, Kos. We love Kos and have visited several times, but this was our first time staying in such a swish hotel. So I thought I would share my thoughts on the hotel, the location, and the facilities.

LANC脭ME Grandi么se mascara 01 Noir Mirifique review

If you could use only one type of makeup product what would it be?

LANC脭ME Grandi么se mascara 01 Noir Mirifique review

for me, it would be mascara. I just think mascara enhances the eye area and opens up my whole face, going from looking half asleep to looking bright eyed. I have over the years tried many mascaras, I mean loads, some I have loved some I have hated and others I could take or leave. Recently I felt like I wanted something new, like my current mascaras where just not making the cut, and with perfect timing I went on holiday, what better place to pick up new makeup then Stansted Duty Free. Upon a little research I decided I wanted to try  LANC脭ME Grandi么se mascara, so picked it up at the reduced price and took it on holiday, the perfect testing ground.

Magic body fashion, underwear that makes me feel good in my clothes as well as out

Following on from my last post where I am talking about Body confidence, in this post I am talking about some control underwear that makes me feel more confident in my clothes. The Super control body* not only looks pretty without clothes, something control garments often don't, but it also smooths everything out under a dress, no panty lines and no bulgy bits, and its comfortable it doesn't feel like you are being squeezed or suffocated.

Holiday beauty essentials

I feel like I've mentioned this once or twice previously, but in case you didn't know, I'm going on holiday in less than a week. We are flying off to sunny Kos an island we have visited several times, and  keep going back. This time we have upgraded and are staying in a more swish hotel then we are used to, which i'm so looking forward to, will be nice to have a little bit of luxury, we could both certainly do with relaxing, there is also a spa, so can anticipate a massage at some point.

Thinking about a vegan lifestyle and is it right for me

Going vegan, living a vegan lifestyle and the possible health benefits of a plant based diet have been highly publicised in the last few years, with many celebrities and influencers shouting from the rooftops about the lifestyle. The movement has certainly gained momentum and supermarkets are bringing out vegan friendly products on the weekly, making it so much easier to go vegan.

7 under £7 beauty edit

I am a beauty lover, but I also like a bargain, and cannot see the point in buying an expensive product, when a cheaper brand does what I want. I'm not saying I do not use some pricier products because I do, but they have to earn their right to be in my beauty stash, and I will often try cheaper brands first before taking the plunge and buying something a bit more expensive.

Feeling forgotten by fashion

This is a post that has been brewing for a while, and is something that I feel strongly, and it's about time I talked about how I'm
Feeling forgotten by fashion

I have loved fashion, clothes, trends for as long as I can remember, my mum has regaled a conversation with me as a 2 year old, refusing to wear a dress on many an occasion. And later I distinctly remember trying my damndest to ruin some school shoes I hated. Of course through my teenage years I made some questionable choices when it came to fashion, and my God why, would I refuse to wear a coat even though it was cold, because it would hide said questionable outfit.

Vegan carrot cake with lemon buttercream recipe

Vegan baking is somewhat of new territory to me, but any self respecting cake eater, whether she finds herself going dairy free or not, needs cake. I have tried a few vegan cakes while being out about, and decided I needed to find a recipe I could bake myself.

That's when I decided to research a carrot cake recipe, and came up with this recipe for vegan carrot cake with lemon buttercream.

Three ways to style a black slip dress

Until recently I didn't actually own a black slip dress, even though I do think they are a pretty great piece to have in your wardrobe, and possibly come under the the title of a wardrobe essential. I mean what is not to love about them, they are black, they are flattering for most figures, they look great in both Summer and Autumn, and go with whatever you have in your wardrobe to make an outfit that looks effortless but still individual.

August beauty favourites

We are nearing the end of yet another month, and are drawing towards the end of Summer here in the UK, I for one am sad about this, I know there seems to be a thing about Autumn, and everyone is counting down the days for it, well not me.... I shall be hanging on for as long as I can. It helps that I haven't had my Summer holiday yet, so I get to live Summer time for that bit longer. This months favourites reflect the warm weather and the fact I am living for Summer.

My four ingredient dairy free chocolate ice cream recipe

Now if like me you are dairy free, you are going to wanna stick around for this recipe. I have a dairy intolerance meaning eating foods containing dairy causes me pain and bloating, therefore I actively avoid eating such foods. Although milk crops up in things you just don't expect it to like crisps, but that is a different story for another day ( food producers stop putting milk in things )

My four ingredient dairy free chocolate ice cream recipe

I am a massive ice cream fan, but buying dairy free ice cream, is a hit n miss affair, with some brands just not hitting the mark on flavour, and all being overpriced in my opinion, and rarely on offer!

Moonlight melts wax melts review

You may or may not know, I love scenting my home, I find it so comforting and relaxing to have a wax melt or candle burning filling the house with fragrance. But my obsession intensifies into Autumn and winter, I dunno what it is but the need to become cosy hightens. So in anticipation of the cooler months, and because we have had a bit of wet dreary weather, since the heatwave broke, I decided to place my first order with Moonlight melts.

London, places to eat, what's next on my list

Although I do not live in London, myself and my husband do visit fairly often. We both love the capital and all it has to offer, eg seeing the sights, and shopping. We also like to go off the beaten track,  we love the Camden area, it has such a cool relaxed vibe, that feels different from central London and it is packed with food establishments and pubs, perfect for taking the load of your feet. You can chill with a beer and of course a meal and do a spot of people watching. Last time we visited London, Purrezza vegan pizza restaurant was on our list and we loved it, I always like to search online for a website with recommendations before a visit in to the city.

So where to next?

Well here is what’s on my list;

The Animal print trend what to buy

Animal print never really disappears but it does go quiet every now and then, but it is back in a BIG way, every clothing website you visit, animal print features heavily in the NEW in section. You literally cannot get away from it, and I think it's gonna feature massively in Autumn/Winter fashion. So if you are not already on board with the trend, you probably will be by Christmas.

Garnier skinactive NEW pure charcoal black tissue mask review

I am a sucker for a face mask, especially if it's NEW in the shops, my curiosity gets the better of me and I just have to snap it up.

I have recently got into sheet masks, I must admit I never used to be to keen on them, but I have persevered and now enjoy the cooling feeling and I certainly enjoy the super soft hydrated skin, I have after using it.

Recently I picked up this new offering, Garnier skinactive pure charcoal black tissue mask , a black charcoal based hydrating mask, that promises to purify and hydrate, and I am all up for that.

Purezza Camden the Vegan Pizza restaurant everyone wil love

Now as a disclaimer, I am not a Vegan, however I do have to eat dairy free, so by default when eating out I often choose the "safe" Vegan option. Since going dairy free, there has been a PIZZA shaped hole in my life, that has up till now been impossible to fill, often Vegan pizza, is either cheeseless or has a sparse topping of frankly inedible "fake" cheese.

So when I heard about Purezza, a completely vegan restaurant serving pizza with their own vegan cheese, I was sold on the idea.

Jumpsuits are having their moment, and I have been dying to get in on the action, except I'm not sure they suit me. I have tried on tens of jumpsuits, and had not found one that didn't make me look like a sack of potatoes. The one featuring in this post, is a little number I picked up on a whim from Primark, and I must admit when I first tried it on, I was sure I was going to return it, but with a little tweaking in the styling, I decided to keep it, and here I am attempting to rock it.

Leopard print not just for the jungle ( including my high street picks )

Animal print, especially good old leopard has been about for ages, and personally I am a fan. Don't get me wrong I'm not looking to look like an extra from George of the Jungle, but animal print done right looks pretty cool, well at least I think so, what about you ??

The dress I am wearing here is an old one, picked up from Newlook a few years back now, I always dig it out, come the warmer months, because leopard print never goes out of style, therefore making anything with the print on an investment.
