Since the start of the year, I have been on one, when it comes to my home decor, basically the new year started and I hated every room in my house, not ideal you may say, well know but its given me the opportunity to immerse myself in all things interiors, and create a shit tonne of Pinterest boards.
So what did we do ?
First up the dark furniture that was sapping all the light was sold, and some clean white minimal furniture was ordered, we choose a sliding door wardrobe with a full length mirror to maximize space and light and a double chest of drawers as we certainly needed more clothes storage.
When it came to paint, we new we wanted to keep the room light, and choose Cotton flower from the b&q premium paint range, we where so impressed with the paint we choose from the same range for the dinning room, it was a know brainer we would choose another from the range when decorating the bedroom. Not only do they have a great selection of colours but the premium range is suitable for all surfaces, meaning we could paint the ceiling, walls and woodwork all in the same paint, which in turn was not only quicker, but makes the room look larger. (pretty good right)
Once the hard work was over, with the painting finished and the furniture built, comes the fun bit of adding those things that make it yours. We already had the bedding, curtains and lightshade we bought them in Asda last year, the quality of Asda bedding is so good, I love the brushed cotton bedding, and as we still loved them, they went back in the room, as did the shoe prints we picked up in IKEA a few years back, and the Paris prints bought in the city on our first weekend break away together. We then choose some new things including the fluffy rug picked up in Aldi, of all places for £15! The black panther and holding hands prints are from Desenio, I bloody love that website and having already bought prints from there new I wanted to add some more to my bedroom. Lastly the bed side lamps are another bargain picked up in the Dunelm sale for a tenner each, I think they look much more expensive than that, and what sold them to my husband was not just the price but the fact they are touch lamps and can be turned off and on by just touching them. (Little things please little minds)
We are so happy with our new room, its unrecognisable to what it was before, and we did it all on a tight budget, you really don't have to spend a fortune to create the home you want.
