I am breezing my way through my home on a decorating spree, since the new year, I have decorated my Dining room, Kitchen and bedroom, and most recently my hall stairs and landing. This task was the biggest I have taken on and my parents came to help. The space lacks light, the paintwork was looking dreary and it was desperate for a freshen up, and we are on a tight budget.
I new I wanted the space to be light and airy and went for the palest of blush shades for the walls and white for the ceiling and woodwork. The shade I choose from Wickes, although I love the finished result now, we found the paint difficult to work with, needing lots of coats, making the job even more time consuming than we had hoped.
The blinds we had already and where made to measure from Hillarys blinds, I personally love pink and red together, I love the contrast. I new I wanted a gallery wall of family photos and as the stair well is a large expanse of wall it worked perfectly, even if me and the Mr had a few exchanges of words while putting them up, haha!!
I got creative and up-cycled some frames we had with a marble effect sticky plastic picked up in Wilko, I also used this on the top of the second hand cabinet under the stairs, which is perfect for hiding shoes.
I also decorated some pots and added much needed greenery to the area. The name sign adds a bit of fun, we picked that up from Ebay.
Over all we are thrilled with the results, although I will not be using Wickes again for paint, but you live and learn.
