My home improvement plans and wish list

You may of seen earlier in the year, I was on a decorating buzz, I redecorated our bedroomdining room and hall, stairs and landing, as well as giving the kitchen a lick of paint to freshen it up. Things then slowed on the decorating front due to the hot weather, and of course that little bug bare, MONEY.

My home improvement plans and wish list

I am now set to plan the next rooms to decorate, which will start later this year after our Summer holiday. I love the planning stage, more than the actually doing stage, I usually research Pinterest and home style magazines for ideas. The next room will be my youngest son’s room, which needs a good sort out, plus it was decorated a long time ago and is now quite young for him. He’s got very definite ideas about what he wants so that helps. Then we will move on to the living room, which is looking very tired, especially compared to the newly decorated dining room and hallway, this is a bigger job, as it needs the fireplace ripping out and a new one fitted, but we are hoping to get it all done by Christmas, so we can enjoy the season in a fresh, cosy room.

Now onto my dream home improvements, that involve more than a can of paint and a roller, we would love new bathrooms, and the kitchen is screaming out for a refit, but what I would love the most is one of those ORANGERIES extensions on the back of my house, bringing in light and giving us practical extra space, as my home is not particularly big. What’s an Orangey you may ask, well its like a conservatory but has more of a brick structure, rather than being mainly made of glass. This makes the space more practical for placing furniture and looks more sympathetic to the existing structure.

I would love to create a little snug area, with a couch and lots of blankets and cushions, somewhere to relax with a book or magazine, and look out into the garden, maybe a little desk area as I always think the words come to me better when I am in a relaxed calm environment. Place the desk in front of a window, and you get the outside, the sky and the weather as inspiration.

Also how nice would it be to sit in, on a cold but bright morning with a coffee, a calm space where you can ease yourself into the day. Or maybe in the evening we could enjoy a glass of wine, a pizza and nibbles, tucked up under a fluffy blanket. Maybe have a coffee table so we can set up a board game, we love a good game of Cluedo or scrabble, yes we are geeks like that.

I am really selling the idea to myself here, just got to find a pile of cash at the bottom of the garden and I will be setting my plans in motion.

What are your dream home plans? Or what are you looking for when buying or renting a new home?
