Book Review The Humans - Matt Haig

Book Review The Humans - Matt Haig

I have read a couple of Matt Haig's more recent books, Reasons to stay Alive and Notes on a Nervous planet, both books really resonated with me. I love his tone, the language he uses and his style of writing. So when I discovered one of his earlier fictional books The Humans, I was intrigued and set out to find out if I would enjoy his style so much in a story format.

CBD oil from the Drugstore
Gifted item

There have been mutterings and quiet whispers about CBD oil and its health properties for a while, recently the talk has got louder with many people speaking out about CBD and its benefits, there has even been the odd celebrity endorsement.

March Beauty wishlist

Beauty wishlist zoella x colourpop

Oh dear I'm wish list writing again which can mean only one thing I'm about to spend money on beauty products that of course I don't really need, but dear God I want. First up we gotta talk about the new Zoella X Colourpop collaboration, I know some people are not taken with Zoe's range saying its a bit boring, but for me the brunch club palette is right up my street with shades I will wear on the daily. I have never had anything from Colourpop but hear the quality is really good and well the prices are pretty decent to.

Also from the brunch club range I am dying to try the liquid lipsticks, I know many people swear by Colourpop's formula, and Zoe's shades Me and Little One look right up my street.

How to wear cream jeans

How to wear cream jeans

When it comes to trends, many come and go, most of which never get my buy in. But when it comes to Spring I do naturally switch things up a bit and gravitate to a lighter colour palette. So when I saw cream jeans, amongst other colours had hit the internet in a big way, I new I wanted in.

Welcome back to my new series, what I loved in...........February, considering January lasted approximately 345678 days, February has passed in a blink of an eye, and turned out to be pretty glorious weather wise to, which is unheard of in the UK. I'm just hoping it continues, anyway here are a few of the things I have loved this month.

Being diagnosed with a second chronic illness

Being diagnosed with interstitial cystitis

Now this is not a woe is me post, I'm not writing it for sympathy, I'm writing it for me as a kind of therapy to work through my feelings. I am well aware there are plenty of people more ill than me, in more pain than me and suffering more than me, before anyone points that out, but to me, my diagnosis has been a blow.

Book review Eve of Man - Giovanna & Tom Fletcher

Book review Eve of Man - Giovanna & Tom Fletcher

Eve of man - Giovanna and Tom Fletcher

When I first discovered this book, while book hunting on Amazon, I was intrigued although this is not my usual type of story. The book is set in a dystopian future, humans are dying out and the Earth is damaged beyond repair. Normally I read novels set in modern times or in an accurate factual time in history, so this book is way out of my comfort zone, but still something drew me in. I have not read anything by the authors before although I have heard good things about Giovanna's previous work and since reading this, I will be looking out for her other titles.

My Spring fashion wish list

Who else is sick of Winter? sick of wearing five layers and still being cold, I know I am, but am not a fan of winter never have been, give me sunshine and warmth any day but for me the next best season to Summer is Spring. Spring when we can start peeling back the layers of knitwear and coats and exposing a little bit of flesh without risk of it dropping off due to frostbite. When prints get floral or striped, and fabrics get lighter and it seems animal print is here to stay, in new fresher colourways, which makes me happy.

Styling Dungarees for date night

Last year I bought my first pair of dungarees since wearing them as a child,  I picked up the black Matalan pair everyone was raving about and I became obsessed, who knew so many outfits can be put together using dungarees. Anywho fast forward to now and Matalan in their infinite wisdom have added a blue pair to their collection, as soon as I saw them I needed them in my life.

We all know dungarees are a dream to wear with a t-shirt and trainers but can they be dressed up for date night?

Valentines Day, is all very well in a new relationship, splashing out on elaborate gifts or dates to impress and woo your new love, but what about those of us in longer term relationships, why should we bother? I mean he/she knows we love them right? my husband and I, are still very affectionate with each other, often holding hands and are guilty of the odd PDA, even after 11 years together.

What I read In January

You may of seen in my 2019 Resolutions post that one of my resolutions I challenged myself to this year, was read more. Well that is exactly what I have been doing, and I am pretty pleased with myself as I have managed to complete six books in January. I used to be an avid reader, but unfortunately that slid away from me due to ill health, resulting in poor concentration and fatigue, but I'm back, and this is the first post in a new monthly series WHAT I READ IN ........

What I loved in January

Flatlay of tea, makeup and netflix

Previously I have usually posted monthly beauty favourites, BUT for 2019 that's changing, I have decided to post a round up of things, activities, pass times, experiences ect that I have loved each month. Meaning these posts will I hope be nice to look back on, to remind myself of all the positive things that have happened throughout the year. They will still of course include beauty products that I am enjoying, if that is off interest to you, but also more random products or experiences I have had.

A Rose Scented Pamper with Rosina's Lotions and Potions

We all love a pamper session, what's not to love, giving yourself time and space to truly relax and unwind from daily stresses, to just be alone with a good book, a movie or a glass of wine, however you choose to relax, add in some candle light and some rose scented products and ahhhh bliss.

The Body Shop Camomile cleansing butter review

You guys know about me and skincare, I've said it loads, I just love skincare products. A brand I haven't used for many years was The Body Shop, I used to swear by their body butters many moons ago, but had never tried any skincare from them. Recently I've heard alot of noise about The Body Shops skincare so wanted to try it for myself. When it comes to beauty products, I love a good cleanser and I've recently started enjoying balm cleansers for removing my makeup, so when I saw this Camomile cleansing butter I thought that it would be right up my street.

My New Year reading challenge

If you read my New Year's Resolutions post, you will know, I am trying to read more. I was always an avid reader, but kind of let it slide in recent years, something I am determined to change. I downloaded the Goodreads app and have set myself a target of 18 books this year. Not loads but still an ambitious target for me.

Bosh Vegan recipe book

The word Vegan is on the tip of everyone's tongue these days, with more of us adding vegan food to our diet and of course Veganaury being wildly popular this year. One of my New Year's resolutions is to eat and more importantly cook more vegan meals. That's where the Bosh boys book comes in, I have watched their videos on Facebook and Youtube and it inspired me to get the book and get cooking for myself.

If you have been a reader here for a while you will know that I am a bit of a skincare fiend, I just love trying new products, using my face as a testing ground to find my next holy grail product. One of my favourite products to use is a face mask, I bloody love a good mask, I love the feeling of unveiling a new fresh face of baby soft skin. So when I received a gift set for Christmas full of Soap & Glory face masks from my bestie, I was excited to try them. I have always been an S&G fan but not tried any of there skincare before.
