Valentines Day, is all very well in a new relationship, splashing out on elaborate gifts or dates to impress and woo your new love, but what about those of us in longer term relationships, why should we bother? I mean he/she knows we love them right? my husband and I, are still very affectionate with each other, often holding hands and are guilty of the odd PDA, even after 11 years together.
But life often gets in the way and maybe we don't do special things quite so often for our partners, Valentine's day is as good a day as any to remind ourselves of those heady days of a new relationship, when we saw love hearts everytime we saw our love and we displayed our affections more often. A DIY or homemade gift is such a cute way to show your love for your partner.
So here are 5 DIY gift ideas perfect for your long term partner
- A favours jar, this is a super easy idea, you just need a large jar, or a bowl, some card and pens. Cut the card into squares and write on each square a favour you are offering to your partner, it can be anything from breakfast in bed,to a massage or something a bit more naughty! it's up to you.
- Reasons I love you notes, now this is a romantic one, write down a number of reasons you love your partner, again you can use the jar idea, and pop the notes inside for your other half to select and read. This could be little things they say, or do or how the smile ect.
- Handmade card, poem or love letter depending where your talents lie. There is nothing like receiving a personal card or letter, written from the heart. I think any partner would be delighted to receive something handmade.
- Scrapbook, featuring memories shared together, photos from holidays, tickets from concerts and events you've been to. Maybe items from your wedding or engagement party, a selection of shared memories stuck together as a keepsake.
- A card made on a website, featuring a photo of you together, or a collage of pictures and inside compose a poem or write your own special words to your lover.
Although I am a strong believer in we should always make our partners feel loved and display our feelings, why not have a day when you do something extra special for them.
