Kate's Closet: Styling Dungarees for date night

Last year I bought my first pair of dungarees since wearing them as a child, I picked up the black Matalan pair everyone was raving about and I became obsessed, who knew so many outfits can be put together using dungarees. Anywho fast forward to now and Matalan in their infinite wisdom have added a blue pair to their collection, as soon as I saw them I needed them in my life.

We all know dungarees are a dream to wear with a t-shirt and trainers but can they be dressed up for date night?

When it comes to dates and nights out I'm a skinny jeans and nice top sort of girl, in fact I normally live in jeans, although recently I have been diagnosed with a condition that causes me to have pelvic pain, meaning my jeans have been resigned to the back of the wardrobe as they are just too uncomfortable to wear at the moment.

At home I have been living in leggings or joggers and a big jumper, but when I want to feel more "dressed" my dungarees. So with Valentines day coming up it got me to thinking how I could wear dungarees for a date night.............. Like I said before I'm a jeans and a nice top girl, so a nice top under my dungarees is not to far out of my comfort zone, another date night essential for me is a cracking pair of heels. I own a shit tonne of heels, a few years back when I used to go "out out" a lot more I always wore heels, for me they make me feel powerful and confident and take even jeans or in this case dungarees up to a new level. This pair hold special significance to me as they are the first pair of shoes my now husband ever bought me, so date night is the perfect time to bring them out of retirement and strut my stuff.

Another way I like to take more casual outfits into the evening is through my makeup, most days I wear subtle natural makeup, focusing mainly on the eyes, for date night a red lip always makes me feel good and like I've made an effort.
