I thought Fantasy books were not my thing until I read a recommendation for this book and decided to look outside my usual comfort zone and try a completely new genre, and OMG I loved every page, and have just picked up the next in the trilogy as I have to know how the story continues.
Daughter of smoke and Bone - Laini Taylor ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Once upon a time, an angel and a devil fell in love.
It did not end well
In general Karou has managed to keep her two lives in balance. On the one hand, she's a seventeen year old art student in Prague; on the other, errand girl to a monstrous creature who is the closest thing she has to family.
I loved the intrigue right from the start, who was Karou?, why does she come running everytime Brimstone called?, traveling to far flung and dangerous places to collect teeth. Who are her parents ?how did she come to be brought up by Chimaera from Elsewhere? where is elsewhere ? what are the teeth for?
ERRAND REQUIRING IMMEDIATE ATTENTION.COME
When Brimstone called she always came.
The beginning of the story had way more questions than answers, but soon some of the questions where being resolved, except the big mystery who is Karou? really? That comes well into the story once you are completely reeled in.
Now the door to Elsewhere is closing, and Karou must choose between the safety of her human life and the dangers of a war ravaged world that may hold the answers she has always sought.
I love the depth of the characters and the descriptive detail of not only them but Prague, and of course Elsewhere! The story unravels with unexpected twists and slow realistions. I devoured this book and challenge you not to do the same, its addictive.
Have you read this book? or the whole trilogy?
