Book review - Reader, I married me - Sophie Tanner

Book review - Reader, I married me - Sophie Tanner

I'm back with another book review, I've been a bit slack with my reading challenge this month, I have been busy at home decorating and falling into bed too tired to pick up a book. Saying that I have just finished an interesting read, so thought I would share my thoughts on,

Reader, I married me by Sophie Tanner ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
(book gifted in exchange for an honest review)

Chloe Usher has just broken up with the love of her life. So many of us can relate to the ending of a serious relationship and how its easy to get swallowed up in the feelings of desolation and loss, making this a relatable story from the start.

Chloe's job isn't going great, she's lost her boyfriend and shes had a disaster when trying online dating. Things come to head one night after a terrible date, she gets drunk with her best friend and under the influence of Gin and cocktails, Chloe has an epiphany and decides she doesn't need a partner to be complete, she makes a declaration of self love, and plans to marry herself. She then shares her plans online on her blog before passing out, waking up in the morning to find her social media has gone wild, with the post going viral.

The story follows the run up to the wedding, her family, friends and colleagues reactions to her news. There's even a TV crew that want to make a show all about Chloe and self love, but not everyone is supportive of Chloe's plans and she has had her fair share of bitterness and even online trolls.

I loved this book, it plays on your emotions with laugh out loud moments along with more thought provoking parts where characters address their own journeys of self love.

This is a very different book that doesn't follow the traditional path of boy breaks girls heart, girl finds new nicer boy and lives happily ever after, and that's what I like about it, we can all learn from this story, we don't need a partner to be complete.

  2. This sounds like quite an interesting book. Certainly has a nice twist to it. I'll admit, it's not the type of book I would have picked up if I had just looked at the cover and synopsis, but seeing that it's not your typical story I am going to check it out.
