If you have been following me for a while you will know we have been slowly updating our home, this last year or two. We still have a way to go, but the latest room to be completed is in fact the smallest in the house the downstairs loo. This bathroom like the others in our home, was the original suite installed when the house was built in the 90's, and was crying out for a mahoosive face lift, and although the room needed gutting, we where and are always very aware of budget and keeping the cost down while still achieving a quality finish.
So here's how we kept the cost down..............
- Completed the work ourselves, including help from my dad.
- Bought the suite from a DIY store rather than a swanky showroom.
- Used own brand paint rather than designer/expensive brand.
- Shopped about for accessories, as well as using pieces I already had.
- Planned the makeover carefully, and purchased items when special offers and discounts where running.
We have learnt so much on this project, which we plan to take forward into the work on our other bathrooms, and I'm busy planning, and mentally redesigning our family bathroom, which is the next big job on our list.
Where we shopped...............
Toilet, vanity sink, tap, floor and wall tiles, shelves - Wickes
Blue and white paint - B&Q own brand
Shelf brackets - B&Q
Mirror, loo roll holder, towel hook, toilet brush, hand towel, soap dispenser - Ikea
Pink paint on door - Frenchic
Door handle - Amazon
Norfolk print - Etsy
Vases, faux plants, candles - Primark , Matalan, TKmaxx
Blind - Make my blinds
