I don't know what it is with the start of a new year, but it always makes me want to overhaul everything, sort out the crap, re - decorate or in the case of my hallway a little refresh to lift the space and add a little interest. I often get bored and like to change things up a bit. On occasion this just involves moving pieces I already own to a new spot, it can really make me fall in love with something all over again.
In the hall, I brought in a couple of plants I already owned, just relocated them from other rooms, and added a new basket for my winter accessories and bought the coolest new doormat ever, oh and totally changed the colour of my stair rails, from white to a statement dark grey.
The whole makeover cost less than £35, and took a few hours to complete. The revamp was inspired by the change of colour on the stairs, I've seen a few accounts on instagram, and some homes in magazines where dark coloured paint was used on the stairs or doors and I just fell in love with the idea of a statement stairwell and kinda just went for it.
The stairs are painted in loof from frenchic paint. I have used the brand once before when I painted the door in my downstairs loo pink and new the quality was amazing and the finish just what I wanted. I bought the 750ml can and still have plenty left for touch ups, should I need it. The paint goes a long way, and doesn't smell so for me was a total winner.
The small grey basket is from B&M bargains and was just £3, they have quite a few designs but I liked the grey colour, as it goes with the stairs and the carpet.
The doormat is from Made.com and happened to be in the sale. The colours are perfect for the room, and it might just be a doormat but I love it.
