At the back of our house, leading off the living room, we have a reasonable sized brick built conservatory. Unfortunately it mostly looks like a tip, and is used as a bit of a dumping ground. Well not for much longer, I have plans to freshen up the space and make it a useable room in time for Spring.
At the moment the flooring is a dated carpet, which just isn't practical in a room that leads to the garden, especially when you have a cat and a dog like we have. We shall be replacing with a wood effect vinyl flooring, which will make the room look more contemporary, while being practical for a room that has big fluctuations in temperature and is also easy to keep clean when you have pets.
I also plan to add a rug for cosiness with a seating area perfect as a reading nook or a place to look out onto the garden with a cuppa.
We already have an upholstered chair that was my late mother in laws but plan to add another chair and a footstool/ottoman as somewhere to put your feet up, and as extra storage.
The decor is very neutral with brick walls and oatmeal coloured blinds, so I'm planning on adding pops of colour with my furniture and soft furnishing choices. A brave choice for me, as my home is very neutral, there is not much colour going on.
I've got my heart set on a blue velvet chair, with mustard yellow soft furnishings, and a colourful rug to add cohesion to the room as well as being cosy under foot.
