I have a confession! until this year I had never heard of an outdoor rug, now I can't move for gorgeous photos on instagram of lovely outdoor set ups , featuring outdoor rugs along with sofas, cushions the lot. Me being what my husband calls "an advertisers dream" wanted in on that action. I wanted our little outdoor space to become an outdoor room, perfect for a morning cuppa, an afternoon snooze or an evening bbq, whatever the weather allows, this is the UK after all.
Our garden is very low maintenance brick paving, with a raised border round the outside. A blank canvas ripe for a makeover. After purchasing a small corner sofa, and adding some colourful planted pots, a couple of inexpensive mirrors and of course fairy lights. I decided I needed a rug, so it was perfect timing when in my inbox popped an email offering me a rug to style in my home or garden. I jumped at the chance after seeing the gorgeous collection from Ornatus . They have tonnes of rugs to choose from, suitable for every room in the house, as well as fabulous outdoor rugs. I must admit I had a job narrowing it down as they have so many rugs to choose from, covering I would think most peoples decor taste.
Since adding the rug it's really unified the space and our "garden room" is now a cosy spot to relax and unwind. This year of all years I am so grateful for our little square of outdoor space. We have spent so much time in the garden, just appreciating being outdoors, when we had nowhere else to go.
If you have a garden, a roof terrace or balcony why not turn it into an outdoor room. Chuck down a rug, add some chairs and pretty pots of flowers, and really enjoy your outside space.
