IKR all bloggers bang on about Autumn, but it's just not for me. I'm a Spring/Summer sort of girl. I love the long days, when it's warm long into the evening and you can have the windows and doors flung open, spending time in the garden enjoying bbq's. Oh how I miss those days already, Autumn has come at us fall force since October started, its cold its wet and it gets dark at dinner time. Anyone who knows me knows I don't do cold, so for me Autumn is all about getting cosy and keeping warm.
So here's my tips for ramping up the cosy factor this Autumn.
Blankets, blankets, blankets, they provide the perfect level of snuggle factor when trying to add cosiness to your home. In Autumn there should always be an abundance of blankets in your living room ready for when you feel like getting cosy. This time of year you will never find me far from a blanket.
Candles, now candles come into their own once the evenings get dark, I mean I use candles all year round but they really help set the ambiance on dark evenings, making any space feel calm and cosy, I also particularly love a gorgeously scented candle to really make the space feel homely.
Hot water bottle, a hot water bottle popped in the bed at bedtime is a cheap way to ramp up the cosy factor at bedtime. For me there is nothing worse than a cold bed, the hot water bottle is the perfect bedtime companion. (my husband is alright too)
Rugs, I have rugs all over my home, they are perfect for making a room feel cosy, and warmer under foot, especially if you have hard floors. Rugs can be an investment but I just love how they immediately make a space feel homely and cosy.
Lighting, can really change the feel of a room, and I am definitely a lamp person, you won't find the big light on in this house! Now we have a Google home, I really wanna add those smart light bulbs for the ultimate in lazy living. "Hey Google dim the lights"
Slippers, I love a pair of cosy slippers, I literally live in slippers this time of year. I'm not a sock person but I do love slippers, the cosier the better.
Are you an Autumn person?
I think it makes such a difference to make the inside of your house cosy at this time of year! Yesterday I washed and tumble dried some blankets and got to huddle under warm blankets for Strictly!
